    Simply from a numbers perspective, it was clear from the out-start of the war that they were going to lose without direct Western involvement. Technologically, Russia retains a competitive military to the world's leading powers. Manpower-wise, Russia is much larger. Economically, Russia is larger. Ideologically, Russia has a stronger society.

    In no area is Ukraine retaining an advantage.
