Psych Synopsis: “PSYCH” is a quick-witted dramedy about a young police consultant Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez, “The Dukes of Hazzard”) who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute that he’s convinced Santa Barbara PD detectives into thinking he’s psychic. Raised in Santa Barbara by a family of cops, Shawn possesses uncanny powers of observation honed by his police officer father, Henry, who drilled young Shawn to note even the smallest of details from his surroundings as a way of grooming him for his inevitable career in the family business. With the reluctant assistance of his best friend Gus, Shawn uses his skills of observation and charismatic personality to become the detective he was trained to be, opening his own PI agency – Psych – and solving cases for an ever-suspicious, but grudgingly impressed, police force.

  1. Okay, Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark is a great episode, probably one of my favorites (and I also learned Collective Soul had a new CD out when I heard the song for the first time during the chase scene), but the one real misstep is at 8:58, Shawn just flew off the hood of that car. No one can hang on to a car that flips a quick u-turn at highway speeds. If someone is hanging on your car like that, you need to come to a gradual stop.

  2. Amazing, how well choreographed that part was: Lassi pulling his car in front of the truck, Shawn hands him the gun as Lassi pulls Shawn to safety by his belt WHILE pointing the gun at the perp!

  3. Man I love this show but that first explosion looks so bad now. The windows are undamaged and the door doesn't even blow open fire just appears in front of it. Last Night Gus is still a perfect episode though.

  4. Shawn being a secret crackshot is one of the best parts of the show even tho it was rarely featured. Just adds to the persona

  5. 0:41 I love the implication being that the actual near death experience wasn’t Gus coming close to death, but is instead the fact that he’s mouthing off to the chief

  6. That shootout scene in Gus and Shawn apartment always makes me laugh with how drugged Gus is acting then when he says "someone shot that guy's TV!".

  7. I love how in the episode where Shawn has appendicitis, you can watch it burst during the performance. They cut off the beginning of it, but he starts sorta hunching over during the performance. It LOOKS like he’s hamming it up, but it’s not quite right, and once the performance is over, he starts to lose it and double over. I had just had appendicitis before I watched that episode and I thought it was really funny because of James Roday Rodriguez’s attention to detail.
