5. Sharks swimming under and around people in deep water are nothing new. But when you are high enough to see the sharks, you can't tell how deep the sharks are below the people at the surface. Most are small reef sharks far below the people. Contrary to media hype following a shark attack, sharks don't intentionally hunt humans. They prefer to dine on animals with a lot of fat (or blubber) than humans can store in our bodies. But the silhouette or shadow cast by surfers are very similar to that of a seal, and boogie boarders shadow looks a lot like a sea turtle. This is why many attacks occur in choppy and murky waters.
