35. I just now realized that Palpatine specifically said pitifully that Anakin would choose him after all, and he chose because Palatine was pressing Anakin for pity

I think that Palpatine first wanted to save Padma from death until the moment when Anakin played Obi-Wan on Mustafar and therefore Palatine had a choice of who to sleep with Padme or Anakin and he chose Anakin from Padme, he sucked out the life forces and gave them to Anakin, I think it was because that would ruin the death of Padme
