Viral video of Flash floods in Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela on March 11th 2022. Floods were seen in 10 sectors of the city as drains were unable to contain the volume of water of natural disasters. Roads filled with water, stopping traffic, and causing pedestrians to lose their footing. Houses flooded, with belongings destroyed. Businesses closed as produce was ruined. As flood waters subsided, debris filled the streets. Authorities are working to assess the extend of the floods impact of natural disasters. Flash floods occur in Venezuela due to heavy rainfall, typically during the rainy season that lasts from May to November of natural disasters. The country’s topography, including steep slopes and narrow river valleys, makes it particularly susceptible to flash floods. When rainfall exceeds the capacity of local drainage systems, rivers and streams overflow their banks and inundate surrounding areas of natural disasters. The resulting floodwaters can move at incredible speeds, carrying away cars, trees, and even entire buildings. At least 20 people are dead after heavy rains triggered mudslides and flooding in Venezuela of natural disasters.
