I feel like people only pay attention to how the flyers get hurt but the bases who are trying to prevent them from getting hurt it’s actually amazing
i remember one time (im a base) we were doing a basket toss and she went flying way to far to the left i literally threw myself to catch her bc if not she would have landed on her face i landed on my talebone and i still have pain there😭😭😭😭😊
The bases are so far apart like dang that’s why you kept on falling 😭

When I started cheer I was a flyer and lemme tell you I was SCARED. But I squeezed as tight as I could and now I wanna cradle in stunts. It's fun but super scary. On a few of them I could tell you weren't squeezed. Also, try not to run downward when you cradle. Let the bases do it.
As a previous flyer that last one from what i saw looks worse than a 3 because sometimes if the pull your shoulders back it has dislocated my shoulder and it hurts. But the video didn’t show how they set her down which is a huge factor

As a flyer, YOU MUAT SQUEEZE!! Your bit squeezing which causes your bases to lose grip!!
Once I was doing my stunt and my base held my foot at a diagonal and it was on dead mat and I fell on my face from extension and my group didn’t catch me.
Another story So once we were doing stunt practice and I was in an extended heel stretch and again was on dead mat and fell back upside down and my group didn’t slow me down and I hit the floor head first and bounced and then fell on my neck 😂
Last one maybe
Once at summit (last month) we were practicing on the grass and I got dropped on my head and got a concussion and almost had to go to the er but this was on day 1 so I had to do day 2
Maybe last one
I was at practice doing my stunt and we did this like ball to splits dismount and my coach told my base to release for the ball but catch the split and she didn’t catch my leg and it hyperextended again on dead mat and a different coach said that she heard me hit the floor from our spring floor over a full out and my knee hurt for weeks
Last one
So once I was at a cheer party and we were stunting and we thought it was a good idea to do a basket toss and they threw me and this was on grass with no mat and they just straight up walked away and didn’t catch me

So 2023 season we were at a pool at someone’s hotel in Phoenix and everyone else left to the other pool and me and some bases and a back spot and some others stayed and I was a flyer and we did a basket toss and they threw me like 20 feet high and I smacked that water so hard and my back turned red
Btw this was all within nine years you don’t get dropped that often 😂
As a cheerleader the bases and back spot feel the pain wayyy more then u do and your not squeezing and locking your knees

As a flyer, you have to straighten your knees and be tight and if you are falling, fall tightly if that makes sense because if you don’t, it might hurt when you get caught or you might not be caught.

Even though she’s not very tight in these scenes, it doesn’t mean it’s just the flyers fault, it looks like she moved back when being tossed which is prob the backs fault for not pushing more up and the bases fault for throwing out. Deff the whole stunt goes through some pain tho

That’s you hun. Stay tight, and pretend there’s a helium balloon on ur chest forcing it to stay up, you can still breathe but chest up. When ur based throw you you have to stay tight. But ur lose which causes you to flail everywhere. That’s not your bases. They could maybe try to save the stunt yes, but majority of ur falls is just tightness. You got it!
As a base, SQUEEZE I can’t stress this enough it make ALL the difference in the WORLD

That ceiling was so low it scared me so much for my gender doing it in the ceiling was pretty low so they had to redo it and they’re not done yet so we have to use our school gym but we’re not a school team

we had cheer practice the other day and we were working on stunt groups and i watched all my best friends be flyers while i felt like i was too fat to be one. I asked my coach if i can try to fly and then they said sure but they only let me do it ONE time. I guess they made their mind up after one time… the stunt was PERECT also!!!!! Even though i know that every position is important, i’m still disappointed bc this year was probably my ONLY chance to be a flyer bc im one of the youngest. Idk maybe i’m just too fat while all my best friends are skinny. Maybe, that’s why.
