Damiana Humphrey was splashing around in the ocean when she suddenly felt razor-sharp teeth chomping down on her hand. As soon as she realized she was being attacked by a shark, Humphrey started fighting back. “At first I was a little shocked that I punched the shark/beat it up but it was just a natural reaction my body had,” Humphrey says. The shark ended up severing four of her tendons. Her parents say they’re incredibly proud of their brave daughter.
