Jeffrey Roberts drove from his California home to his brother’s house in Utah. According to family members, the brothers were estranged for a long time. For 25 seconds, they chatted on the doorstep before Roberts pulled out a pistol and fatally shot his brother. Cops say he then shot his sister-in-law and used road flares to burn his brother’s house down. When police pulled up, there was a shootout that later killed Roberts.

They didn't mention the motive; The killing brother gave his brother his share of the inheritance to help take care of their Mom at home. He didn't want their Mom to be in a nursing home but the murdered brother used the money to put her in one anyway.
