Hmmmm. I take it this excellent series just covers arcade and console releases? Because you'd better make extra room on that top spot for EVERY Commodore Amiga Beat em Up (Except the excellent Fightin' Spirit). Because they would relentlessly pummel these fancy lightweights off the charts.
I loved this game, still do
Next worst: Justice League Task Force on Genesis.
Reminds me of the part of the slice-of-life anime Tonikawa where they were playing SF5, and then they went straight to SF1 for some reason.
Still better than mk1
I bought a Turbo Duo in 2002, just for Fighting Street.
Metal & Lace
Know you're hyped for Terry in Street Fighter 6 but there's still a couple months before he comes up from Manha- I mean South Town.
Hey why is The Animated Movie one of the "snags"??! That movie was a friggin classic!
Joe as the "hero"??? Wow! What direction would the game and series have gone in, if that actually happened? 🤔
being old enough to play original in arcade sf1 was a big deal and massive
Bro have you ever played a sega genesis game called slaughter sport? That has to be the worst fighting game of all.
I always wondered why people hold SF2 in higher regard than Mortal Kombat.
I found this MK ripoff called Cosmic Carnage for the Sega 32X recently. You should definitely cover it in this series.
Man, I haven't even watched the video yet, but based on the title I assume you've never played Double Dragon V
Street Fighter 1: First-Born but is treated as the “Black Sheep” of the Family.
sequel better than prequel
I still appreciate the 1st Street Fighter. I remember many years ago telling others (before YouTube) that SF2 is actually the second Street Fighter game. Many thought I was lying lol.
"Hau" – Silly shoe Ryu
Ill give it some slack since fighting games were still knew, there wasnt established fighting games since they were still new.
You should take a look at the first Guilty Gear, also known as Guilty Gear: The Missing Link. It's definitely not the worst but it is very broken and kinda funny. Almost every character has an infinite, it has some really weird mechanics (the next games massively improved on them though), and one of its characters is basically unplayable and cannot do anything in any matchup, might be one of the worst fighting game characters
i remember playing the giant pressure button version of this in my local arcade. it was near impossible to play. lol
I played the pressure sensitive cabinet and the 6 button machine at my local arcade as a kid. I can forgive the graphics (which I think are ok all things considered) and the sound because of technical limitations of the time. But the control is what kills it for me. It is so stiff and unresponsive. It really feels like the specials come out randomly. The cynical adult me suspects this was done as this was an arcade game and was designed in order to milk every quarter out of kids pockets.
You never played fighting street, that one was worst
I nominate the unofficial TurboGrafx-16 port "Fighting Street."
As a kid I used to think the boxers Mike and M. Bison were the same person. That his full name was Mike Bison, and that he was a reference to Mike Tyson. Guess I was wrong… Or maybe that's just was Capcom wants you believe these days, so they won't get sued for misappropriation of likenesses.
I really thought this game was the sht when I was 8 yo 😭
I played Street Fighter in the 30th anniversary collection. I’m a casual street fighter player, I prefer guilty gear. I immediately thought “hey, I’ll try that first game” and after a minute, I was done. It was the worst fighter I’ve ever played
I played sf1 with the big dumb buttons at the time, and I hated it. I never understood how it got a sequel but was blown away as a kid when it happened
i played this… once… with those goofy buttons ya actually had to hit with a fist to get 'em to register.
what i remember most about it… it sucked. was the only quarter i put in that thing.
I never saw a Street Fighter cab when I was a kid, and actually never heard of it growing up. For some reason, I never questioned the existence of Street Fighter 2 without, in my awareness, a first entry. I only finally saw and played SF1 in ny teens by way of a curious Street Fighter series PC compilation CD-Rom I got at a Wal-Mart somewhere. It had SF1, SF2 World Warrior, and SF2 Champion.
