At the time of the rescue, the young female sloth had a body temperature of 21 degrees Celsius (69,8 degrees Fahrenheit) and was placed in an incubator to simulate the warm, humid climate of the jungle to stabilise her health.
According to veterinaries from the Peruvian National Forest and Wildlife Service, the animal was poorly fed and had signs of mistreatment.
