  1. Alien trilogy was a very odd game as like Mat said it was pretty much just taking movie locations and throwing them into a loose plot about you being a marine sent in to clean them up if i remember right it starts in 2, then goes to the penal colony then the last section is meant to be "tracking down source" aka hunting down a queen that laid the eggs seen in the first movie, I believe this game also uses one of the plot points that was in an early draft of the first movie e.g the engineer ship crashed into an alien pyramid of a long dead culture that worshiped the Xenomorphs and the lower deck of the ship where the eggs are found in the actual film was meant to have been a chamber within said pyramid etc… I think the alien campaign for the first PC AvP also follows this plot thread

  2. A:T requires a whole lot of your favorite: Don’t Worry About That. It very loosely tries to incorporate the recognizable environments of the films into one mashed-up setting and adds the bit of the second movie so much fun (guns). You actually do play as Ripley but the plot basically amounts to “you’re in the shit with xenos, don’t die”.

If you start asking questions about the plot just take a deep breath and repeat the MST3k Mantra.

Edit: Jesus Christ, Aliens is my favorite movie and was Earthworm Jim’s target demographic when it dropped, how did I never realize that QPBFSPFMSFAB might’ve been a xeno queen reference. Im genuinely ashamed

  3. Bro Capcom get the license to the aliens franchise and make a resident evil style alien horror game with a third person over the shoulder view. But make it a slow paced game.

  4. Damn i LOVED Alien Trilogy as a kid. The cheat codes are fun too!

To answer your question it truly is a like “greatest hits”. While not at all great by today’s standards, it was fun for like 8yo me on the PS1.

There’s tons of different enemies, some climb on ceilings too. The white troopers are “alien handlers”, one of a few human/synthetic enemies.

It’s just a basic alien shooter with tons of random levels. Try not to look for any logic or story in it haha

  5. Damn…I had forgotten how old some of the videos included in this were (AvP SNES was from November 2017!). I thought I had been watching both your main channel and the Flophouse since the beginning, but I don't remember even seeing the Alien Trilogy gameplay before.

  6. i fkn luv Alien DOOM!! I often forget about it…feels like all those Sega games are all but forgotten about right!?

Those 2000 graphics are so charming nowadays tho, are these the new "retro" games? yikes!

  7. I love Xenomorphs and Predators. But on reflection, I think I've come to a realization that we kinda all need to accept: "Acid Blood is total bullshit." How do you fight something that melts you when you hurt them? I know its part of the mythos and it would be absurd to change it now. But if I was part of the design team for the original Alien movie, I would make them SPIT acid, not bleed it. From a gameplay perspective, its actually incredibly annoying. Scary and badass yeah, but if this was part of any game without the Aliens name slapped on it, I cannot imagine it wouldn't be a huge criticism that every enemy becomes a stage hazard on death. Its almost like every single enemy is a boomer from left for dead. Ok maybe not that bad, but you get my point. Like I said its too late to change it now. At least Preds can deal with it. And Ripley I guess.

  8. I think Alien Trilogy was the first saturn game i played. I remember renting it from the video store. Despite all its flaws i do like this game, it nails the atmosphere of the franchise.

  9. Had to look this up, but apparently in AvP Jag, as the Xeno you cocoon Marines by hitting them with Claw-Tail-Claw and then IMMEDIATELY walking over them like you would to collect a power-up.

All those buttons on the Jag controller and they couldn't come up with something more intuitive?

  10. 1:02:18 AH! That guy! He's the one that sketchy companies are stealing the voice of for their sketchy supplements and various other trash.

    Edit: David Scully, it seems

  11. A good thing you were able to pull off that uppercut on the alien queen. Had you not I legally would have been required to unsubscribe from your channel and report you to the authorities lol

  12. Alien Resurrection did have dual stick controls, but fire was still mapped to the face buttons. It's a bit tricky to play; you have to keep adjusting yourself between moving and shooting.

  13. AvP2 ruined other games for me by being too good. The environmental story telling was *chef's kiss*. The multiplayer community was also just.. amazing. Community maps and mods. Predator clan vs clan matches. Shotgun sniping. Better days.

  14. Very glad you covered the AVP2 FPS. Amazing game. That slow build up before even seeing an alien is so tense. I remember being blown away when I figured out the motion tracker also highlighted moving elevators and automatic doors. I don't know if you ever finished it, Matt, but the final few marine levels introduce some very fun new mechanics.

And of course, the game defaults to the knife because knives don't cause any bleeding. Therefore, you won't be hit with acid. It's obvious.

  15. I remember playing an Alien vs Predator RTS on the ps2. Not an amazing game, but the unit designs were top tier.
Still going through the video, but I hope Matt plays that game one day to nerd out on the designs.
