44. Sound's like what can happen when a man sees a younger woman in close proximity and relationship to his own woman. To be clear, this is a WEAK minded man. A creep. A man who in his head, dropped his wife because she was now a source of stress and he was pulling double duty to take care of a baby. Then, a younger, probably similar looking sibling, around the same age as his wife was, when they met, comes to live with them.

    If it's all about him, and he's a narcissist, he'd see her as his. Being in HIS orbit, having close access to her would send his mind spinning. It'd only get worse as they had more conversations, he'd spiral deeper into an affection not unlike love, dating, until it's far too late.

    Once caught up, he probes, trying to see if she's interested in anyone. What consequences could possibly be in his mind, no one can say. For he's solely motivated by avoidance, and libido now. He's replaced his idol. When he thinks there may be some sort of shot say, at having both sisters as his, or secretly manipulating a sister into a relationship with him, a desperate need to share the illicit thrill of his state of being, grows. Acting upon this, he probes further and is delighted to hear vague answers. The sister is so innocent at this point he knows he can lead her about with a bit more time, and the right situation. So he builds in his mind every night, from all the shared care-ride conversations, drinks, to every backyard poolside glance; how he'll woo her, how it'll happen. How it must happen.

    These thoughts fill the gap of avoidance like a fog, letting him have time out of the reality of being a tired father. It's in this fog that he continues building up his plan. Repeatedly psyching himself up to act, like a mantra. A mantra of sliding, shifting goalpost's and logic, trying to reason why it could all work out. He recites it to help him act maybe even that very day.

    But then it ends.

    He finds out she's in love with someone ese, and her own idol, won't ever be his. Not now. She's tainted. His image of her in his head, the one that isn't real, is now muddied. That doesn't sit quite right with him. He has no outlet for his failed emotional connections. The guilt he feels and the anger begins to need to be smothered by anything else. It had to be her fault, for ruining his daydreams, his plans. It was her slutty-ness, he believed. How else could she lie to him and then be with another man, instead of chasing him instead? This, he thinks, needs to have a solution.

    To which, he finds none. Only a band aid, a poor one at that, for his shame. It was lashing out, to punish her for his own twisted ideas, that seemed to help. Redirecting it at himself was far too painful. It'd almost make him feel like HE was in the wrong.

    One night she leaves the house. He can hear it. He knows the sound of the locks turning, he knew the sound of the pavement, her shoes. If only he'd acted sooner, none of this would've happened, he'd muse, fuming. She couldn't get away form him that easily. Somehow, some way, she could still be his tonight. Tonight, he'd finally make her his.
