  1. I remember after the car accident I was in my mate asked if I'd seen my face yet. When he showed me in the mirror my nose was smashed and there was a massive hole in the bridge of it. 9 hours of surgery, part of my rib and cartilage from my ears fixed the bone mess. And a flap of skin from my chest repaired the skin damage.

  2. In my line of work injuries are to be expected but at least we're in driving range of the nearest hospital. A decade ago I lost a toe due to a crushed steel toe boot

  3. Mid 2000s had a friend on a crab boat slip by a huge wave and bumped his head and passed. He was early 20s and his dream was to captain his own crabbing boat. The ocean can give and it can take, it's unforgiving.

  4. I've had epilepsy my whole life. I've had a few jobs where I had a seizure at work. One time, while working at a coffee shop, I fell and started seizing by the espresso machine. When i came to, there were EMTs around me, and I was trying my damnedest to get up and continue working. I remember having the steam cup in my hand still and was trying to get up saying, "I need to finish working."😅
