And aikido does not use your opponents force against them requires your opponent to flip himself and be super compliant matter in fact you could learn to flip people without even touching them just pull out a gun and tell him to go flip them self if not you’re gonna shoot Not to mention the founder of aikido had dementia and was suffering from severe brain damage Just like One of his students a.k.a. Steven Seagal
Aikido works on petite women and on children and the elderly it really works wonders on the terminally ill so if you work in a daycare facility or an old folks home this martial art would be for you it really works wonders if you mix it with hula dancing
Awesome video!
Unfortunately dealing with my personally I will cross train in Aikido and MMA
Thanks for this honest assessment of how aikido can help with self-defense, and how to look for more well-rounded approaches. Awesome!
MMA actually has a good deal of rules, the NJ state athletics board helped draft them after PA banned the events in the 80s over the lack of rules in toughman competitions….
I love using Tai Sabaki while navigating among people on a crowded train. It's not a street fight, but a real-life application of Aikido 😉
as a woman, learning martial arts gave me a ton more confidence, but I agree, the best advice is to avoid fights and de-escalate as a first approach
Idk. You definitely have stories where aikido has been useful.
Hopefully, I will never be in the situation of a street fight. I can use the awareness to avoid conflicts or being targeted.
