🥒 *ABOUT BEFRS:*
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.

If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I’m a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

  1. 10:55 As far as I know, The lab leak theory is still a conspiracy theory in the US. People here still think it was either bat soup or a pangolin based off zero evidence… instead of thinking it may have started at the lab within ground zero known for specifically studying gain of function with said virus. I remember not long ago people even being hostile in the US at anyone even suggesting that it came from the lab there. Then again I also remember democrats saying it was racist to even mention it came from China at all.

  2. So happy Sonny bought the Pangolin only to set it free!!! (I wasn't going to watch thinking Sonny was going to have it killed, drink its raw blood, and eat its organs.) It has been amazing watching animals being saved and loved (instead of killed) for our entertainment on Sonny's channel!!! Please keep up the good work!

  3. I constantly talk about this subject. It seems that we have equated culture with the inability to change practices because we fear racism or colonial practices. However, none of us have actually caused what happened today in this specific practice.
It is unfortunate that people in the past caused so much hardship. However, I cannot kill and eat these creatures because I live in a world that deals with the consequences of my forbearers. In the same way, neither can they.
The world is smaller. No matter the cultural practices in the past, they cannot do this. Just like we cannot.
It sucks that they gain because of rich Chinese people. It seems that Chinese culture inherently has the whitest, most racist outlook now. They may be the next iteration colonialism that we can stop now as long as we stop see this as culture.
Harsh, I know. But if I said it was mine as an American, it would be unacceptable. But they cannot get a pass because of my forbearers. They exist in the same world. We share the world. We all deal with it.
The fact that people give lenience to these things is actual racism. Everyone's the same, so let's act like it.
