This poor dog was found in danger on a mountain. He was in very bad shape without food or water. It looks like it’s been like this for at least two years. He was tied up under a metal plate placed diagonally next to the drum to avoid the rain. He is around 14 years old. He is named Maru. He was taken to a shelter and they gave him clean water and delicious food…

My 14yo Golden /Pyrenees passed recently. Whenever we hiked in the mountains, it was clear that she fantasized going wild and living there. She was always scoping out places to shelter. When I set up camp she would find a spot and scratch out a rectangle and call it home. One morning she was nowhere to be found. I awited searched and called then hiked down to the base camp to see if she had returned. She hadn't, so I went back to the camp spot and found her along the way. She had mixed feelings about returning vs exploring a different ferrell life style. She made the right decision and came back with me to her loving family. I will mis her every day for the rest of my life. All of this is to say the appearance of neglect isn't always the case. Snoozing indoors isn't always the preferred environment for some animals. Not passing judgment but I've seen some dogs who prefer spending a winter's night in zero temps and covered in snow so consider the range of possibilities for different breeds.
