Shocking Dark Crime Tales of Britain
News of the Times Episode 373 | 1766 – 1848
In today’s episode we are exploring shocking crimes of their time across Britian spanning between 1766 to 1848.
What is deemed shocking in one era can certainly be considered very much less so in another era, yet we found all of the stories in this episode shocking in their own way.
Case 1: selling a young girl on the Royla Exchange in 1766
Case 2: Torture and starvation of a wife in 1767
Case 3: The famous case of the blind man who cruelly murders his boy guide in 1800
Case 4: Charged with roasting a child – in 1816
Case 5: The returning son who is murdered by his father unknowingly in 1834
Case 6: Killing a boyfriend’s children for revenge in 1848
For our true crime buffs, we give more information about one Britian’s more infamous and prolific executioners at the end of the episode.
Six dark and murderous tales from Britain’s past is today’s episode of Frightful Fridays.
Hosted by Robin Coles.

Hi Robin,Your description of the cases was creepy enough, then…came the actual crimes, well ✔ 👋
People don’t change.
I have little to add. These stories made my skin crawl! Not only was the description of the crimes enough to make being human alone almost a crime. But, some of the sentences were so light as to be criminal all by themselves. I have to tip my hat to you and to your researcher(s) for being able to plow through these stories of terror without needing something more than hot chocolate!
This narrator is so hard to listen too. Terrible. I found the slow telling of the stories and the disjoined narration damned awful. This channel is going on my blocked list.
Great job Robin and team. Thank you… I have nothing nice to say about Calcraft so I'll keep it to myself.. That letter was very very interesting. Love love the letters even though the subject was just so sad.
Well this make the mind think!!! Thank you!!!
Terrible, wicked crimes. People haven't changed.
Thanks, NotT. Enjoyed.
It just blows my mind how he could let that child witness death by starvation of another human being. The little girl showed compassion for the poor woman and was punished for doing so.. I'm sure the ordeal affected the girl the rest of her life.
Taking the lives of two innocent children for a revengeful situation between adults is unthinkable. Why are the children punished for adult situations. Unbelievable, hideous action.
Again, it boils down to no compassion or consideration for the others that suffer the from the loss.
Thank you, as always, for sharing these incredible stories.
Ah the dreaded Calcraft! A very sadistic Man who enjoyed his work a little too much 400 executions. In the past executioner's wore mask's and were not very popular i wonder if he had to move around alot as it would seem the townspeople would have shunned him like the plague. Thanks RC and team for another great upload 🎉
I don't even know where to begin other than to say these six cases were definitely some of the most "heartbreaking and horrific," cases that I've ever heard of thus far. I can't comprehend how an executioner like Calcraft could have enjoyed his job and especially for 45 years, period! Great investigating, presenting, backstories, illustrations, photos and videos, as well. Take care 🦋
As I always enjoy your videos l don't think that is quite the right thing to say about this one. They were all very sad and heart rending. 😢 Please take this as l mean it. I agree that in most the sentence did not fit the crime. As always I thank you R.C. and team for all of your work making these videos. Going through l would think that going through the process of picking out the storys from the 100s of every day stories must take a great deal of time and patience. I so appreciate it and wish you all the best.
Cheers to Alfred Hitchcock always does a great job.
BLIMEY!! These tales were rather grim, to say the least!!
I don't think Williamson in the second case was truly repentant!! He deliberately starved his poor wife to death for her money, and abused his little girl for DARING to intervene!! Maybe he thought fake repentance would save him from execution?! I do hope the Willismson children survived the workhouse, the poor mites!!
Well done on producing yet another AMAZING episode, Robin and team!! XXXX ❤🤗👍💕💙👏💞
