I found Milton under a car with an infected wound that was full of maggots. He had a large tumor and a bladder stone and also suffered from pneumonia. We are so lucky to have the loving medical team at CARES that takes care of our rescues and nurses them back to health. If you missed Champ’s rescue video, here is the link for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IW8toydgqI (VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED – he is very severely injured).

Our friends at Maison Sûre are fostering Milton, and if you would like to adopt him, please contact them directly: https://www.MaisonSureLA.org

They are also looking for a loving forever home for Mickey and Minnie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPY1z1DKKXU

Please watch these three videos and help us save more lives – these animals wouldn’t have survived one day at the shelter.

If you don’t have your own Lucky Leash yet, please fix it here:

Thank you so much!

  1. Shame on whoever let Milton get into that terrible condition and then dumped him! 🤬 But thank you HFP for rescuing him and saving his life, treating his wounds and illnesses, and looking for a loving family to adopt him. I hope maybe he and Tilly can get adopted together! 💖

  2. I’m a senior evangelist. Especially if you’ve got something going on that makes you think you can’t have a dog. Like I have ME/CFS (tho I’ve recovered about 50-80%, ) & fibromyalgia. Like I worried I couldn’t give a dog the activity level it needs. But small senior dogs give you all the goodness of a dog, but more chill. I can handle a few mins of senior zoomies no matter how bad I feel. Also my kid helps when needed. It’s allowed us to have a pup without me feeling guilty I can’t be more active for them. Yes you’ll have them for less time, but seniors are overlooked so often & you could be the perfect home for them in their final years. And sometimes they suprise you. My first senior was a Poochon who we adopted when she was 8 & we had her for 7 yrs. She was just the absolute best dog. I still miss her 4 yrs later. But I’m so glad she was in our lives.
