A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater helicopter crew rescued a man and dog from a disabled and taking-on-water 36-foot sailing vessel 25 miles off Sanibel Island, Florida, on Sept. 26, 2024. The man and his dog were reportedly in good health and taken to Southwest Florida International Airport to meet with EMS. (U.S. Coast Guard video by Air Station Clearwater)

  1. I have an enormous respect for the USCG, I watched the hearing on the Titan disaster and heard how the USCG mobilized 70000 lbs of ROV equipment from land to air to land to sea in 3 days. It included fabrication and welding of fixtures to secure it to the deck, transportation of all personnel to get them to the wreck site, including safety equipment, clothing and food for all crew, things we don't even think of. The logistics these guys put together was immense. Not one person under their command was injured during this time. USCG you are amazing. Greatest sympathy to the families of those lost in that disaster. And here they go again, rescuing one man and his dog during hurricane Helene, outstanding.

  2. There’s more to this story..you really need to interview the OS specialist that worked this case…they went above and beyond to get this man and his dog rescued.
