Storm surges are not caused by the wind. Fact Check CNN. Storm surges are caused by low atmospheric pressure passing over the sea. When the atmospheric pressure drops, the ocean sea level rises. Wind can play a part in the destructive effects of a storm surge but they don't cause the storm surge (rise in water level).

But one sister does have her daughter and husband about 5miles inland so im sure they'll be ok. Praying 🙏
