I think we need to ask what happened with the dams? We haven't heard much about that. We had 3 days of rain up in these mountains before Helene hit. Why didnt they release water days prior to this hurricane? A foot of rain water was forecasted over a week prior. I'm no engineer, but it stands to reason that you would want to make way for the additional water and attempt to maintain the damage as close to the natural rivers and waterways as possible. Complete towns were swept away like a tsunami. Reports of 7 to 10 feet of water raged through these towns. This area is 2000 feet above sea level.
