Hurricane hunters with Air Force Reserve 403rd Wing and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration captured videos in separate flights into Hurricane Milton over the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday as the intensifying storm moved closer to Florida’s west coast. The hurricane is expected to make landfall late Wednesday or overnight Thursday.

Talk about the sort of flight where you ought to have the barf bags out in the open and ready. Looks rough, but honestly not a rough as I would have imagined. We dodged a bullet with this pupply. In my area 75 or so mph winds, max. The two turbulence incidents right before the 'well, damn' are more like what I would have expected for the entire flight. It amazed me that on a hurricane study aircraft, they do not have stuff secured better than that. Good way to attain some unnecessary bruising.
