  1. Thats what i like about waffle house, they are a community asset in many ways.

Side note: its actually crazy the fact that this is now a coined term.

  2. People are mistaking the Waffle House Index. It's not in preparation for a disaster. It's after the disaster. If AFTER the Waffle House is closed, then things are rough in the area. They will close during the storm, it's house fast they re-open after the storm that you pay attention to

  3. "Well, Jimmy, I'm sorry your house got thorn up by the tornado, but you still have a shift to cover"; also this is not proof of the great efficiency and diligence of how Waffle House operates, it's a sign of capitalism being out of control.

  4. Both Wafflehouses were closed for a few days here after Helene. We were without power for over two weeks. And we weren't even in the towns with bad flooding.

  5. Does…. no one realise that this means Waffle House are forcing its employees to potentially put themselves at risk by having to work during a disaster?? The restaurant might be fine, but what about their homes and families?

  6. Waffle house should run FEMA.. maybe we would stop throwing billions of dollars to illegal immigrants so we could actually help Americans.

  7. We used to also use the waffle houses to tell how the neighborhood was. Waffle house sees the roughest stuff so if they are wary of new people coming in, it's an extra rough place.

  8. If the waffle house is open and business is usual, you're in the green
If the waffle house is open but on limited supplies or power, you're in the yellow
If the waffle house is closed or GONE, you missed your chance to get out. Godspeed

  9. this is actually like really fucked up. you can be in the middle of a natural disaster, possible have family members in danger, but are still required to come into work just because your employers are stubborn
