  3. Animals have the ability to sense all kinds of illness, cancer, diabetes including sugar levels, oncoming narcolepsy attacks, and the same with seizures. I have a friend who is diabetic and she adopted the dog she liked 2nd best because he was a big dog. There she was at the Humane Society and she wanted them both but could only have one. Her diabetes was not under control to say the least. Her doctors were furious that her insurance would only pay 55% of the cost for an implanted blood sugar monitor. She wasn't feeling great as usual, but this was her 2nd trip to the HS and she had to decide.

Then her second choice started barking and going crazy and she moved closer and wondered if he sensed he wasn't going to be the one. He kept barking and more staff came out because this dog was not a barker. They opened the door thinking that a familiar face would help but he snuck pass the volunteer and started sniffing my friend and then sat and looked up at her as if wishing he could speak. It occurred to her that the article she had read abut dogs sensing extremely high or low blood sugar wasn't bunk. Well she and the yet unnamed dog followed her as she was escorted to take a seat. The dog sat quietly and watched. She took her blood sugar levels and it was in the 300's. That is dangerously high.

The dog sat and watched as she injected herself and as she sat feeling the insulin do its thing the dog inched closer and nudged her hand and she sat petting him. He was slowly relaxing and too be sure he sniffed her up and down and then he relaxed completely. Needless to say he is one smart dog and they are so cute together. She named him after one of her favorite doctors and she's lost weight, has gotten stronger and is so happy.
