The Worst Disasters In History

Spread The Viralist

Hello everyone and welcome back to Scary Interesting and to another edition of some of the worst disasters in history. The disasters in this series seem to come in two varieties. There are those that are unavoidable, unprecedented natural disasters, and then there are those that are frustratingly, entirely preventable, if not for the people involved. This is going to be a frustrating one. As always viewer discretion is advised.

  1. America didn't join ww1 until the last year of fighting, so I'm a bit surprised you mentioned them at the start of the conflict! But I suppose that's what's called painting a false narrative. In the 9 years of fighting between ww1 & ww2 America were only involved for barely four of those 9 years. They only joined when it looked like it was going the alies way, then they just swooped in after the rest of the world had done all the hard yards and swept up all the glory. Not bad for a military that really hasn't won a war that went more than 9 weeks.🫡🥴👈

  2. Third story: if processes within the organisation were both clear and followed (no idea which element was lacking in this case), the guy wouldn't have been in a position to make such a shitty decision. The pilot was clearly some kind of mentally wrong. But the organisation should be set up to control for that. F the military, as an international whole.

  3. Second story: How is this framed as a tragedy 'overshadowed by the enormity of the conflict raging around them', as if it's separate? How many of these people would have died (horribly, btw, which is glossed over in the video) were it not for the war? These are war casualties just as surely as the chipper tommy sniped in no-man's land. And yes, of course they'd have been firing with the intention of causing an avalanche on the enemy – they'd have been crap soldiers if they hadn't. I usually like this channel, but it feels like this episode dropped the ball a bit. Let's see if the third story is treated any better…

  4. First story: WHAT!? Are we leaving it there!? Who took the decisions, and under what circumstances? What money was made as a result of those decisions that wouldn't have been if the rescue had been committed to, and who benefited? Was this container ever unearthed? If not, why not, and what memorial is there in place of the giving of a shit? And why did the word 'capitalism' not feature in this segment as an even more prominent cause of death than most other stories on this channel?

  5. Bud Holland is notorious in the aviation community. He was a career jackass who murdered everyone else aboard because he was trying to show off. His superiors KNEW about his behaviour but did nothing to stop it. It is credibly rumoured that the black box recorded his copilot saying, "Nice one, asshole, you've just killed us", right before impact.

  6. In 1984, there were a series of incidents reported to CHP about attacks near Dinky Creek, Ca, above shaver lake. 1 report stated an off duty Armed security officer shot a "Winged" creature after it slashed his duffel bag while riding from the Helms project to shaver lake, the creature was reported to be almost 6' tall with a wingspan of over 12', the body was later recovered but no official report was ever given. The creature left 3 gashes in a motorcycle helmet as well, almost into the rider's head. Fluid found at the shooting was "Glowing green, like radiator fluid", tests were inconclusive but definitely Not radiator fluid. no further attacks have been reported in that area since. If you find anything could you post it please?

  7. I think i heard within the last few years some WW2 soldiers were found in the Alps either as bones or mummified. Wouldn't surprise me if some WW1 ones were found or will be.

  8. saw the plane at the start and thought it was gonna be the tenerife disaster, then heard the initial details and thought it was gonna be the first operation babylift flight (esp because that pilot was also nicknamed bud, he was a hero instead of a fucking menace tho)

  9. A shame they chose to use a "click bait" photo showing what appears to be a sinkhole in a large city. Excellent stories about real occurrences. Other youtube videos cover the B52 crash if anyone cares to learn more about this fool of an officer with no respect for a wonderful plane. The B52 is expected to fly until the 2050's with 8 RollsRoyce engines replacing the current Pratt and Whitney engines. I worked with B52's and KC135's from the early to mid seventies. At that they were assigned to the Strategic Air Command (SAC).

  10. The thumbnail pic is fake/AI?
The cars on top of the large buildings.
I get it if it's a garage building but also on the apartment complexes…

  11. I won’t be coming home
    I won’t be going anywhere
I will guard this post forever (forever)
Here on the alpine slope where I did my final stand I shall remain
Among the ice and snow that binds me to this mountain

A force of nature too strong, sent from above
Where spirits lead the way, the winds will never fade

  12. i know it’s an easy mistake, but just a reminder that england and britain aren’t interchangeable – scots the welsh and many others died in the world wars, not just the english ❤

  13. How is "worst" decided? By the number of dead victims? Surely some ship crashes or some huge explosions, like the one in Bhopal, India had more victims than mining disasters.

  14. I feel sorry for the people who died alongside 'Bud', the only solace I draw from this is that at least he wasn't able to become a commercial pilot after military retirement!!!

  15. i always hated cocky pilots in the marine corps that flew like it was a game. i had friends who refused to fly with a particular pilot bc she would almost crash like every flight.

  16. Obviously Bud is the one responsible here, but when your system is not set up to discipline behavior like this, you're going to get a lot of Buds. It's a much larger issue.
