Lixiangyang’s Hulatang & Fried Dumpling (东新街李向阳糊辣汤) – We’re starting with a very popular Muslim breakfast stall that’s famous for dumpling buns – 4 RMB ($0.56) for 5, hulatang (hot and spicy soup) – 9 RMB ($1.26), and some of the best Chinese vegetable pockets – Price – 5 RMB ($0.70) that I’ve ever had. Breakfast was on another level!
Three Brother’s Vegetable Burger (玄风桥三兄弟菜夹馍) – Next up on this Chinese food tour today, Xi’an is famous for its Chinese burgers, often filled with meat, but this one is vegetarian and it’s so good. Price – 6 RMB ($0.86)
You can’t come to Xi’an without visiting the Xi’an City Wall. The wall has so much history and to this day the old part of the city is still surrounded by the wall.
Jing Gao – You’ll notice this unique sticky rice stick dessert all over Xi’an and it’s as tempting as it looks. The taste is actually quite nice as well, and very convenient to eat. Price – 3 RMB ($0.43)
Shangzhai Big Bowl Noodle (南柳巷尚寨老碗面) – Easily one of the most famous of all Chinese noodles in Xi’an is Biang Biang Noodles (油泼扯面). This place is very popular, but I was a little disappointed that his place doesn’t actually hand pull their noodles, but instead slices them. That being said, they were incredibly delicious with the splashed hot chili oil on top. Price – 12 RMB ($1.71). Don’t worry, coming soon we’ll go to a place where they still hand pull their noodles.
Wangkui’s Burger (骡马市南口王魁肉夹馍) – Roujiamo (肉夹馍) is the famous Xi’an Chinese burger and this restaurant is legendary and one of the most famous. Price – 10 RMB ($1.43)
Chang’an Da Paidang (长安大排档上元灯会 葫芦鸡) – You can eat street food and noodles forever in Xi’an, but it’s also nice to sit down and eat some of the bigger main dishes of this region of Chinese food. Xi’an is famous for Gourd chicken (葫芦鸡), a whole fried chicken, and some other unique dishes. Price – 91 RMB ($12.98) total *I think they gave us a few complimentary dishes.
Another outstanding day of delicious Chinese food in Xi’an, China!

Love your videos, Mark, but you really gotta be more cognizant of the chewing noises.
welcome to xi'an!
by the way those seeds in the salad/veggie dish you had at the last restaurant are just almonds. Not Michael's fault but "apricot seeds" is a common mistranslation from Chinese to English since "almonds" in Chinese is 杏(xing) 仁 (ren), where 杏(xing) can mean "apricot" and 仁 (ren) can mean "seeds".
Thanks Mark for going to China, of all the area's of the world I wish I could experience China tops my list. Love the culture and people and of course the food. Hope you enjoyed yourself!
Malatung, hot pot, and barbecue kebab don't need highly experienced cooks, customers even do the cooking themselves. Street food is ruining traditional chinese cuisine art. Cooks used to take years of training and highly regarded for excellence. Some dishes took hours if not days to prepare and the maximum taste only last an hour or less. The beautiful art is being lost by the convenience focused younger generations.
Thank you Michael for taking Mark and Ying to these amazing food places in Xi'an. I really thought the Gourd chicken was going to be cooked with a gourd. The Biang, Biang noodles looked delicious
That bread at the beginning looked incredible.
I'm quite surprised that you're mispronouncing the name Xi'an.
Phonetically the correct pronunciation is:
Shee-aan
You shouldn't eat over the basket but over your soup bowl so you don't make a mess. LoL
What is wrong with the Chinese guy? Haven’t eaten anything long time ago come on something better than that. The guy has to be go. What’s her name Michael bye-bye 😢
$.56 for 5 dumplings? Anyone else watching this in the west just feel like we're getting cheated with our extreme high cost of living? Then people argue that's because they're "less developed"… but wait, less developed in what….
This video brings good memories Mark thank you! A few years ago I was able to enjoy a variety of Xi'an food from a fellow vendor Xi'an Taste here in Honolulu!
Question, why did you generalise street food in an African country. But you specify nation/region when it comes to the rest of the world?
meow meow
That Roger Moore Burger looks 💣
I love your phrase "goofy liquid". Notice how cheap food is compared to the USA, Mark paid .86 Cents for a whole meal like a Chinese Brurrito/Pita and here it would begin at $5.00+ toppings……
I love the belt noodle idea, will have the wife make some soon. 👍👍
Table side carving service using a regular bread & butter knife is so Chinese because they have no clue LOL
Strategically filmed in China before being banned from it. 🤣🤣🤣
Shui Jian Bao. Lol I love you to death Mark. But you a half Chinese brotha, I hope you work on your Chinese while you there 🙂
I love Chinese food but only when it's halaal and from domesticated sources.
Laser pointer at 15:41 caught me off guard
Mark wakes up to breakfast with excitements like the way I wakes up with excitements to playing slots. 😂😂🤷♂️
when i see your first step in China is Xi An, i know you are a legit food vloger
Most of this stuff would be too much for the average American unfortunately. I wish chinese restaurants would put stuff like this on our menus!
12:21 thats dry Tofu look so good Tasted… My mouth is like waterfall 😋😛
14:17 Look and taste better than cheese burger
This… this makes me angry… Seeing those my favorite food and can actually have none… 😭

🐉I want to see you and Joel Bruner in Binondo, Manila!🏮
Why are his eyes so sparkly? It is very pretty and not a bad thing at all, but it has this teary-eyed wet look to them. Came here for the food tour but it was really noticeable.
Hello sir, the map of China you started with in your video is incorrect as it does not include Taiwan! This is a mistake!
They are Halal restaurants as well
Delicious
Very happy to see you come to my country. There are a lot of completely different cuisines in China from one province to the others. Wish you have a nice food trip in China.
