The area of Nana in Bangkok is one of the biggest International areas of the city, known especially for its Middle Eastern influence. It’s an international and fascinating place in Bangkok to walk around and explore.

Along Sukhumvit Soi 3/1 there are a good concentration of restaurant and shawarma kebab stalls, and about halfway down the road is a shawarma stall that I’ve been eating at in Bangkok for many years.

They have both beef and chicken shawarma and I had one of each. After tasting both of them, I think the chicken shawarma is my favorite.

While shawarma isn’t the same as Turkish doner kebab, they are cooked in a similar way, and I’m highly looking forward to eating Turkish doner kebab and learning much more about Turkish food during out trip there sometime in 2016!

  1. Stationed in Turkey from 1984 to 1987. Loved the food…always fresh and simple, but tasty. I loved the way so many dishes were cooked in brick ovens….spent most my time in Adana. Seemed every region had thier version of popular dishes…..oh ya…..the bread called eckmic spelled wrong I'm sure is out of this world….and yes the history in Turkey is fascinating…..enjoy
