  1. An old saying comes to mind after listening to this story. "Criminals aren't the sharpest people in the world." As soon as the position of the victims was revealed, I knew right away it was the kid. Greed seems to be the motivation that truly inspires most people to commit stupid things.

  2. Damn, this guy's cover story was almost as bad as Van Breda's. I love it when criminals are stupid. (also, I would love to hear Emma's take on Van Breda as someone from South Africa and who understands all the cultural norms that we who don't live there would miss)

  3. The dogs barked the hole time the cops were there. But he didn't hear the dogs. Changed shirts before he left the house and the clean shirt had her blood on it two. The workers didn't see anything or any one go down the road being at the start of the drive.

  4. Zimbabwe earned its woes. The things they did to the white farmers were some of the greatest crimes of thier times. They chased off or killed everybody who knew how to grow crops. After that, starvation is thier fault and thier problem. They comitted the same crimes that the original colonists comitted against them.

  5. The continuous blaspheming is also disrespectful to others. The genius thinks it is cool. It exposes his lack of ability to express himself adequately.

  6. Has someone ever asked why the boy , now man did not want to go back to school ? Did they look into what was going on in his life ? Where did this violence came from ? Were there signs before that indicated something like this could happen ? I miss this part of the story .

  7. Maaaaan, it would be SOO COOOL to be able to see meerkats and kudu just, like, out and about on my property.
It would not, however, be NEARLY COOL ENOUGH to live in South Africa. Sorry, no. Zoos exist, and I cannot fathom having three sets of murders committed in my "neighborhood" and staying there. Just, why. Why does anyone live there who can possibly afford to relocate.

  8. I’m coming up with a complete conspiracy theory on Simon. It will be very convincing and hilarious at the same time. Simon reveals facts of his life in tangents. I can list them off but it would spoil it. I love how well traveled Simon is and love his work. The stories of his daughter we shall call Dora (because that’s the name he gave her in an episode) because her name was irrelevant to the story and nobody’s business. I’m sure he is a great father and husband. Anyone that has listened to his tangents as long as he’s been doing them on YouTube can see where he completely changed his mind on the death penalty. I intend you use this as evidence Simon is a serial killer in all of the places he has traveled. It is very easy to spin bullshit while using everything a person has said in front of a camera against them. Out of the utmost respect for his work, I have not compiled his rants in an order that make him say something he isn’t. He needs to change his speech up. I have set my metronome to his speech. The best oraters used this as an ability. It’s too easy to take a clip of them saying something terrible calmly with a straight face. Then a clip saying this person deserved the death they got. Ignoring he’s referring to the dude who died in prison. I’ve never heard Simon disrespect a victim, it’s always respectful. Sincerely tip my hat to the writers and Simon in this regard. But what if Simon is the ultimate Moriarti and gets to report on his own crimes? What if I’m way off point and I’m supposed to be tracking Simon down and rescuing the authors from the basement. Without bothering to check if he has a basement. (Pizzagate shooter reference). To the Authors, I apologize because I enjoy the content a bit much to come rescue you. Embrace Stockholm syndrome. Hopefully you writers are far better than I am. I can’t write a casual criminalist episode where the murders are unsolved. Have the murder victims killed at a time Simon puts himself there during a tangent. Fake murder of course. As the episode continues it becomes evident to everyone other than Simon that the editor is in on joke. Showing the tangents of him admitting being in that country. I’m just not that much of a creative writer.
I’m convinced the writers in the basement can spin some bullshit together for an April fools day joke. I Respectfully say that I hope ONLY Simons writers take my terrible idea and make it funny. I understand why his opinion on capital punishment changed. He would use it more sparingly than myself. So I mean no disrespect in pointing it out. I’ve seen episodes where he refused to read further and skipped ahead. He still read it to know why to not read it aloud.
This episode is pretty dark if it’s going where I think it is. Yup, Simon needs a mental health plan for his writers.

  9. Simon, your inability to understand certain words or phrases makes you all the better. David Mitchell would tear you apart though. Much love from the US 😊

  10. It did have something to do with it. The farms in Zimbabwe were no longer producing food and a hungry desperate population won't pay attention to borders, like Russia and Ukraine. It's why rich SA farmers hire small armies like Elon Musks family

  11. About the journalist, Steenkamp (loosely meaning "stonecutter") is a fairly common surname among Afrikaners (white South Africans of Boer/Dutch heritage).

  12. Thank you for covering a 'farm murder'. You will have endless grousum stories to cover. R××3, torture, and murder was common. They could be considered genocide, as white farmers and their black employees were almost exclusively targeted. I don't understand why it's so questionable and laughable, the attackers typically made it clear that it was racially motivated. Attackers weren't targeting black owned farms.

  13. It's a weird drumming up of racism in South Africa to say that farmers are targeted (less than 2000 over 2 decades doesn't sound like genocide, especially not when compared to the stats on farm workers killed)

  14. 'No hatred involved'… funny then how most thieves manage to steal WITHOUT hacking, torturing, burning people.. slowly in many cases, till they die.
I dare say it is fortunate that the presenter does not get to read the script before taping..
Go on..pull the other one mate.

  15. well, you don't want some murder weapons out there with possible killers on the loose. That being said, it's very odd that murderers would discard their weapons. If they'd been there to rob the place they'd have taken things, and if they were there for personal grudges, they'd have known there was a son and looked for him alongside the family. All in all, very shabby plot.

  16. South Africa has some truly insane true crime stories. Would love to hear an episode on the Brett Kebble murder, the Henry Van Breda case and Kyle Ruiters who I actually went to school with

  17. Steenkamp looks like it's a very common name in South Africa when I started typing in Steenkamp murders a South African model was the first thing that showed up in the search preview and when I click enter on murders it came up with an article about Oscar Pistorius then I saw the woman Oscar Pistorius who's accused of killing also has it as a last name
