This woman was just walking her dog one day when she spotted a tiny creature. Actually, it seemed like her dog noticed the squirrel first. She realized that the baby squirrel was very weak and called animal rescue groups for help. The worker on the other end told the lady that it’s best to leave the squirrel there in the bushes so its mother could come back for it. It’s likely that it had just fallen from its nest not long ago. And since it’s so young, it’s unlikely to survive without its mom.
The worker said that if the baby squirrel doesn’t survive, it’s likely nature’s way to ensure the fittest survive. But the lady couldn’t bring herself to leave the baby squirrel there, it had no one else and there’s no guarantee its mother would come back for him.
So she brought him home and dried him with a hairdryer. Then, she fed him some milk and built him a house. Her dogs and cats seemed very curious about him and the lady worried that the baby squirrel would be bitten or eaten by her cats and dogs later on. So she put him in a glass cage.
At 4 am, the baby squirrel woke up crying and she quickly rushed out of bed, turns out, it was just hungry. She fed him and went back to bed but her dog was still worried, she had to force the dog to go to sleep again.
By the next morning, her dog was eager to check on the squirrel with her. The baby squirrel was cold so she put him in her sleeve. There he really liked it and stopped crying. But he’s since refused to leave the woman. She takes him with her to do everything, be it brushing teeth, or washing her face.
His favorite spot is her neck. Now he has a family who loves him.
Peanut the squirrel was recently put down. He was a very famous squirrel. He along with a baby raccoon was recently taken from a home and euthanized to check for rabies. Of course they didn’t have any. Peanut was first found by a man as a baby just like this squirrel and raised for 6, 7 years. Let’s pay tribute to Peanut the squirrel and the raccoon.
