Today we have the honor to eat at Ahi. Restaurant (https://ahirestaurant.co.nz/), one of the best restaurants in all of New Zealand. Chef Ben Bayly (https://www.instagram.com/benbaylynz/) has traveled the country searching for the best ingredients and products, and learning indigenous Māori cooking, and that all comes together at this restaurant. As a country made up of many different people, what is New Zealand food? And that’s exactly what Chef Ben Bayly and his team are answering.
One of the highlight dishes was the local eel, a huge eel, which is a very traditional food source for the Māori people. And along with the eel, we also ate everything from paua (the famous New Zealand abalone) to crayfish. It was an outstanding meal!

Mark missed the Pou-o-kai in Castle hill this year but damn, he just had a 1 on 1 session with chef Ben
So so so glad you brought your family and they are obviously having a great time. Really glad you came here and I’m sure you realise by now you will need to come back for another tour. Enjoy your stay.
We talked about you in our English book😍
beautiful name of the Restaurant, much to the desire of the current status of the Mahoris in NZ,
I was born in Auckland. If you have a spare couple of hours I suggest a visit to the museum!
Wow!, I live in Auckland and this is the first time I've seen Ahi restaurant. That is truly amazing. It would definitely cost a bit for a once a life time experience.
Always dreaming to visit such a lovely place..
Best cheff ive seen yet
Chef Ben Bayly is amazing and the way he has explained and cooked all the dishes i am now a big fan of his art. Can't wait to try dishes prepared by him. Superb

Welcome, welcome. I've been a fan for a while now, and thanks for the visit to our country 💯💯
Woohoo Auckland!
The only thing Ben Bailey, didn’t do is – offer Mark an espresso at Pavlova time. I’m sincerely upset this was missed – Mark LOVES coffee.
Great video!
Couldn't stop smiling as you enjoyed our beautiful country.
What a life!
Mark I have never seen you put any food down. Your the most BULLSHIT Food Critic EVER. I WOULD NEVER EVER GIVE YOU MONEY TO TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD AND ENJOY YOURSELF On other people EXPENSES. I Don’t Know why I watch this series. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander. I bet you a million dollars you will give me a thumbs up.
Wow the meals look pretty damn good. Need to pay a visit very soon.
This man is the Kiwi Thomas Keller. What an intelligent and well studied individual Chef Ben is. His understanding is truly inspirational.
Man sure loves stroking that eel
Masakan sempoi dah tapi kuku tukang masak makan cengkam pulak 🤣
Pav is nice.. but Xmas Triffel does it for me in NZ
Can we exchange Russell Crow for Pavlova? We never wanted him and to be honest, Aussies started making better Pavlova's than New Zealand in the 1920's
❤❤❤
OMG Haven't even been there. You have spotlighted Ahi so well. Am def. Going there soon. ❤
NZ maybe a few hundred years old, but Aotearoa is thousands of years old
Pavlova is Australian… cmon guy. U can have Russell Crow
Mate, so bloody cool to see you eat some of the our iconic dishes. Glad you made it to New Zealand 📍 🇳🇿
Excellent ❤
Great to see you are suitably dressed for the New Zealand summer :-). Glad that you enjoyed everything. Great video, as always.
Pakeha means white pig/, its racist.
why do New Zealanders still use this word?
especially when its original use was linked heavily to cannibalisms of white early settlers
