The African wild dog, also known as the painted hunting dog (Lycaon pictus), is one of the most organized and efficient predators on the African savanna. They live and hunt in packs, often dividing into smaller groups to encircle their prey from multiple directions. The African wild dog targets medium-sized animals like antelopes and wildebeests. With speeds of up to 60 km/h and high endurance, they chase their prey until it is exhausted. At that point, the pack surrounds and attacks, typically biting the legs and abdomen to weaken the prey. After taking down their target, they share the food with the entire pack, including the pups and weaker members. With a hunting success rate of around 80%, African wild dogs are among the most effective predators.
The video uses some cleverly edited footage for the purpose of showing the audience the possible outcomes for wild animals in the wild and is not intended to alter the facts.
