7. As a Beagle mom for 30 years, thank you for saving her off the streets. One of my rescues took a very very very very very very very very VERY long time to stop hiding himself in the house. I just lost him this Summer 💔 and he was the greatest sweetest boy ever. ❤

19. I'm thinking she might have belonged to a guy who uses beagles as hunting dogs.
    The ones who won't hunt or are scared of guns usually get killed or dumped off somewhere.
    My sister has one that they convinced a guy to give to them. Because he was going to shoot it because it was useless to him.
    She is skidish but she is getting better. If she hears the side by side start up she comes running for a ride.
    She has it very easy now but there's no telling what she went through while trying to be trained to hunt.

25. Our sweet beagle boy was like this when we adopted him. So utterly terrified, he would press himself in a corner and just shiver. We had to pick him up to take him out to go potty, and carry him back inside. Definitely no eye contact. It took 2 years of tender loving care for him to fully come out of his shell, but once he did, he was the silliest, goofiest boy. We can only imagine what he went through before coming to us. We miss him so much!

32. We adopted a Beagle/Basset mix when I was in college, who had been found on the streets as an abused, pregnant stray. She was the sweetest, most mellow dog I have ever had. I don’t get how anyone abuses an animal like that.
