Spread The Viralist

Tsunamis are among our planet’s deadliest natural phenomena. Their huge waves can wreak devastation within minutes. What can we do to protect ourselves against catastrophes of this nature?

Where a tsunami has struck once, another will strike again. It’s only a matter of time. The documentary observes leading international experts as they conduct scientific analysis of tsunamis – gigantic flood waves usually triggered by earthquakes on the seabed. The scientists’ research reveals the complex mechanics of tsunami waves, explains the most advanced prevention technologies and shows the most likely scenarios of future tsunamis.

  1. Thank you DW for this such a good documentary, I am proud that my hometown Palu is shown in the video, I'm also one of the survivor of 2018 Earthquake & Tsunami. I was in the middle of the city on the second floor at the time, and i can see clearly the Tsunami coming from the sea fast, clearly first the water on the shoreline were retreating at first, but minutes later it came so fast that barely anyone who stands still in front of the beach alive.

  2. They’ll be another big 1 2025 too at my guessing 1 every last 7 years on the trot! 2004 Indonesia 2011 Japan 2018 Krakatoa Indonesia so that leaves 2025?

  3. The documentary stated that the waves reached 35m high at the shore of Sumatra which is incorrect. The height of the “waves” were barely a few meters. But what makes a tsunami devastating is the sheer force and velocity of a continuous surge of huge volume of water

  4. 2004 December 26, Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami
2011 March 11, Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
2018 September 28, Indonesia Sulawesi Earthquake and Tsunami
So, according to my calculations, the next big one could hypothetically occur on 7/9/13 or 15 June 2025 🤔😬

All these events occurred in the "Pacific Ring of Fire". The Cascadia Subduction Zone is also part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Could June 2025 be Cascadia's turn??

Cascadia’s historical megathrust occurred on January 26, 1700, a mid-to-late-month pattern similar to past events like 26 December 2004.

Studies suggest a major Cascadia earthquake occurs roughly every 300 to 500 years, so we’re approaching the average recurrence period.

Cascadia’s last event (1700) means the region is overdue, so it fits the potential timeline for a significant seismic event.

I seriously hope that my calculations are wrong!

  5. It makes me sad because Indonesia and all its islands are beautiful. The people I have met that are from there are extremely kind. My heart breaks for them, having to deal with this so often. 💜

  6. Sri Lanka was one of the countries worst-hit by Tsunami on 26th of December, 2004. Nearly 35000 people lost their lives while half a million people were displaced as result of this natural disaster.

  7. This is a prime example of why more people need to get more prepared and think about "Emergency Preparedness Management" for both your home and vehicles. I am a YouTuber under my Full-Name with the same profile picture as this post with 52 videos covering 30 different category topic subjects sharing my personal knowledge and experiences with others to help others improve their overall adult lives. I've got videos on building yourself a high quality 24-72 Hour Survival Bug Out Bags, Home and Vehicle Preparedness and Readiness advice videos, several Financial Literacy advice videos, fourteen Cooking Creation Recipes videos, and more!

  8. seeing the tsunami devour cars and sweep houses like they were nothing sent shiver down my spine. The power of nature is really something we mere humans can barely protect ourselves from.

  9. the one in Japan was insane, i was shocked! i remember watching it happened live and asking myself "is this really happening right now|, you can see the waves are coming slowly and the feeling of helplessness, like you know we cant really do anything about it, even at that time we already considered ourselves as an advanced civilization and yet all we could do is watch. people, cars, and even houses getting swept like nothing. . I still get chills thinking about it to this day witnessing the sheer power of nature was unforgettable. May those who lost their lives in this tragedy rest in peace.

  10. I'll save you time. Simple. Don't build your house on beach fronts. Might be nice but since nobody can predict an earthquake you can't, period. Thanks for watching.
