MUSCAT, OMAN – Today we’re going on an ultimate Omani street food tour in Muscat, Oman! This is an incredible city, with friendly people, ancient history, and delicious local food. We’ll have a huge breakfast, try Omani sweets, eat arsiya and madbhi with rice at a popular local restaurant, and finally eat the greatest of all Omani street foods – mishkak and the shuwa burger.

Huge thank you to Ahmed, Oman Travel & Tourism for taking us around Oman.

Rozna Restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/EGC6EZEPGanM9fqB9) – We’re starting this Omani food tour at one of the best restaurants in Muscat. We tried Omani bread, fried liver, and a bunch of other Omani dishes. We also happened to meet the manager Sulaiman Alkindi, who gave us a full tour of the restaurant, and also let us sample the lamb shuwa right out of the underground oven. Total price – 11 OMR ($28.53)

Al Diwaniya Omani Sweets (https://maps.app.goo.gl/agqaVasvpd1oGnbk7) – Next up Ahmed took me to try Omani halwa, a dessert that’s also an Omani traditional celebration!

Kabsa & Madbhi (https://maps.app.goo.gl/vUMyTVUpMFnHQsU26) – This was one of the highlights of the day, a Arabian Omani meal of rice with rock smoked madbhi, and arsiya – an Omani dish of rice and lamb beaten until it’s smooth like a porridge. Total price – 18 OMR ($46.68)

Sightseeing in Muscat – Muscat is a beautiful city and after spending some time in the new city of Muscat, we then headed to the old city of Mutrah Fort for some amazing views, and also we visited Mutrah Souq to walk around and try some street food.

Mohsin Burger (https://maps.app.goo.gl/i1ZefDjSRsV7W7qw7) – One of the best Omani street foods is mishkak – Omani grilled meat skewers which are often served with tart tamarind sauce. We also couldn’t miss the shuwa burger, a delicious Omani burger topped with shuwa. Total price – 13 OMR ($33.72)

Oman is an incredible country – rich in history, friendly locals, and plenty of delicious food to taste!

Again, a huge thank you to Ahmed for taking us on this Muscat street food tour!

  1. Muskat…I thought you were eating Muskrat. That food looks so good and I can't tell you how many dishes I've copied from your channel.

  2. From the opening scenes, whatever that woman cooks, wherever she cooks it, I'll eat it!! You can just see and feel the generations of cooks that came before in her movements and in the food itself!!!

  3. Why does Mark always think there's "cardamom" in so many of the foods he tries when they don't even have it? He says "cardamom" atleast once every video, I saw him say it about a recent dish from New Zealand which had ZERO cardamom but he just said it like it was fact.

  4. I am a Filipino, I lived there in Oman for 8 years and recently moved here in the the US. I missed Oman, my son was born there. Best people, food, hospitality and freedom. I love Oman! Rakam wahad!! We lived near Rozna tho in Ghala❤

  5. i have only been to Muscat, Oman once in my life when i was in the Navy in the 90's. and it was a very welcoming city and the food was to die fore.

  6. lol there’s no such thing as Omani street food. Shuwa, regag and halwa are all made in proper restaurants or outlets. The only street food you get in Oman might be the food from subcontinent in the back alleys of Ruwi

  7. So lovely to see Mark Wiens travel to all these parts of the world. By traveling to these places he is not only connecting with the food but also with the culture that make each type of food what it is. Hope your time in Oman was fantastic (and, more importantly, that the food was delicious as well!)

  8. You are Amazing, Mark. You make all these food even more delicious! Thank you for sharing your explorations of food! You are making me appreciate all these countries food, people and places! God bless

  9. Mark Weins is that thin and seemingly under weight for his height he looks like a little boy sat next to all these different people from different countries. Not an attractive look at all.
