I’ma keep this short.
If I’m not mistaken around 2020 it was discovered on either 2pacforum or Bomb1st what the sample is for 2Pac’s “Never Had A Friend Like Me”.
Ever since then I had been working on an OG Vibe, but the main reason that it took sooooooo long to finish it was, cuz I couldn’t find a lead guitar on my beat program (Reason 8.0) that matches the sound of the one on “NHAFLM”.
There was a lot of friends/fellow producers that I asked if they could pull it off, but no such luck, so I pretty much left the mix for dead.
It wasn’t until yesterday that my friend Martin Merza asked me if I still had the mix, ’cause he had gotten this guy named Dave Crum to play the guitar riffs.
Long story short, we tested it out and “walah”

You can find this track on the original soundtrack to the movie Gridlock’d, on the single Wanted Dead Or Alive and on the compilation 15 Years On Death Row.
According to the late Johnny J, the official released version of the song wasn’t even the final mix. It was just a temporary mix that he did himself.
There’s a decent amount of speculation that this song is dedicated to Suge Knight after the near-drowning incident in Cabo San Lucas. Depending on who is telling the story, either Suge or another person swam to 2pac and pulled him to safety after he started drowning.
Suge Knight is not the only person who has identified himself as the person who saved Pac, Kurt Kobane and other people from Death Row have also claimed that Suge was the one who saved him. Athough, Hussein Fatal gave credit to the daughter of David Kenner, Death Row’s and Suge Knight’s attorney.
