11. PROTOTYPE THEORY: The prototype and the doctor discussed heavily about a breakthrough, working together to achieve something. What if it’s exactly the reverse of what Playtime Co. has been doing? Putting the Prototype into a child. He has an obsession of being in the perfect body, hence collecting the parts of other toys. But it’s not enough. He needs a human body. Orphans were kept around “asleep” (which makes sense since they are around poppy flowers used to put anyone to sleep like Catnap) but really just waiting to be the next subject for this project. And the Doctor would definitely be willing to participate and aid the Prototype to succeed so that he too could get the chance to be in a body again, even if it means the body of a child. Hence his last words, “You saved no one.” Because there are no orphans left to save. They are probably even a pile of failed experiments too. They all failed the transition. But the Player is an adult. A perfect vessel compared to a child. A “bigger body.” “Too perfect” as Poppy first mentions in Chapter 2— too perfect for the Prototype so she was willing to blow up everything and everyone (including the Player) to make sure he doesn’t get that chance. BONUS POPPY THEORY: Not as complete but I’m pretty sure Poppy was willing to be in a child’s body too at first. In her secret conversation with Ollie, it could have been happening before the hour of Joy and maybe Ollie was willing to give up his body for her. She probably came back to her senses after the Hour of Joy, thinking about her father’s legacy. And the Prototype trapped her in a case after trying to help Doey and the toys escape. But Poppy definitely has something the Prototype needs. Maybe access to something, maybe a key. Whatever that could complete the process.
