Get ready for the ultimate Chinese street food tour documentary in the Shaanxi province of China! From the bustling historical streets of Xi’an to the spicy numbing Chinese food of Hanzhong we’re on a mission to eat the best and most unique Chinese food that you’re not going to want to miss.

Arrival – We’re landing at Xi’an airport and heading straight to eat some world class dumplings – some of the best dumplings ever.

Day 1 – We’re jumping straight into an ultimate Chinese street food tour to uncover the most unique and tasty Chinese foods in Xi’an – from famous hand pulled noodles to chive pockets and the legendary Xi’an burgers.

Day 2 – We’ll start the day with an impressive Chinese breakfast and then proceed to eating biang biang noodles and a whole fried gourd chicken.

Day 3 – You might know Shaanxi province from the Terracotta Army, and we aren’t going to miss it. But first we’ll have a mutton soup jacuzzi, and then taste some more amazing Chinese biang biang noodles.

Day 4 – Today we’re jumping on the train to visit Hanzhong, a city halfway between Xi’an and Chengdu that’s known for spicy mouth numbing chili oil. We’ll find some of the most unique street food snacks and try fish swimming in chili oil.

Day 5 – About a 3 hour drive from Xi’an and we’ll be in the beautiful mountainous countryside. There’s a hidden gem restaurant, most like a farm house, that specializes in braised rooster.

Day 6 – Today we’re back in the heart of Xi’an where we’ll try a legendary historical restaurant for Shaanxi cuisine (including gourd chicken), and we’ll try two variations of the popular liangpi noodles, and some lamb dumplings!

Mark I always loved the history of the last Emperor he died when I was born, and reading his book and seeing the movie just showed how sad his life was and being overthrown by the republic and then the Japanese tricking him to keep his thrown through them. I would love to see the forbidden City hopefully one day. But such richness of the history to the growing of great food and culture.❤

  2. Wow I love the history of the terra cotta army amazing to see it in person❤ and the food well what can I say YUMMY mmmmmmm. My favourite is that long noodle with hot oil chilli and shark fin soup.❤

  3. Thank you, Mark, for covering this part of the world that not too many people have the opportunity to visit. Local Chinese food is fantastic for the price. There are of course very expensive places with better presentation and services, but what the locals normally eat is much more interesting.
