Jerma plays old/obscure games. (Grab Bag Game Night Part 2)

First is Crossed Swords, a Neo Geo first-person sword-fighting arcade game that feels like Punch-Out meets knights. He calls it a “coin eater” designed to frustrate kids at the arcade and struggles immensely with the blocking directions before realizing he could just hold the button down.

Second is Cyberia 2: Resurrection, the sequel to the infamous 3DO rail shooter, featuring even more janky FMV action and endless explosions. He compares the relentless, nonsensical chaos to how a kid plays with toys and finds the difficulty & repetitive bickering dialogue absolutely absurd.

Third is Deathtrap Dungeon, an early, crusty 3D action-adventure game reminiscent of Tomb Raider but filled with instant death traps and clunky combat. He gets wrecked by snakes, skeletons, rolling boulders, and even a Mario Boot, finding the game hilariously unforgiving but weirdly charming.

Join the stream exploring several vintage PC and arcade titles, starting with the challenges of getting old technology to cooperate, from monitor driver updates causing screen issues to configuring graphics wrappers in install folders. We look back at the high cost associated with gaming in the past, like expensive cartridges once priced near $80, and the potential money spent feeding coins into difficult arcade machines designed to drain quarters. The gameplay itself involves navigating complex digital environments, from futuristic storage facilities and labs to medieval towns, hilltop castles, and treacherous properties like dungeons, towers, warehouses, and quarries, each presenting unique trials. Managing in-game character health with limited resources like potions is crucial, mirroring the real-life need to manage personal well-being, especially when frustrating interfaces and low frame-rate visuals eventually contribute to physical strain like headaches after a long session. Witness the process of adapting to these older systems and overcoming their inherent difficulties.

  1. These longedits are mostly great but sometimes the cuts are WAY too spastic. The Deathtrap Dungeon segment especially. Jerma will be talking about an attack he just did that's not even in the video. Just ease up a bit and these will be golden.

  2. It's so funny all the comments going "ew" when he's playing Cyberia^2 when the dude isn't perfectly encapsulating the dudebro character, but also the idea that every protagonist is some sexless straight edge hero. Honestly, I think the whiny frat boy actually makes you focus more on what's going on than if he was just throwing out the expected plot relevant dialogue.
