In this ultimate Philippines food documentary, we’re traveling across the lesser visited southern island of Mindanao in search of the best local food. From the busy street food stalls of Cagayan De Oro to the rich culture of Marawi City, the unique Filipino food in Zamboanga, and the tuna of Davao City and General Santos City, this is going to be an unforgettable journey into Filipino food.

Huge thank you to Chui: @TheChuiShow For helping to arrange this entire trip!

Cagayan De Oro – Our food tour starts in the busy city of Cagayan de Oro, known locally as CDO. The market is full of delicious Filipino street food and friendly people. We’ll try a local stall famous for their humba, and get a taste of delicious Halal Maranao food. Next we’re trying the raw marinated fish (kinilaw) and tasting a powerful unforgettable soup!

Marawi City – Marawi City is home to the Maranao People, an ethnic people group native to this region of Mindanao. Their food is outstanding, some of the best food I’ve had in the Philippines – loaded with spices and fresh herbs.

Zamboanga City – From Marawi City, we made our way, continuing with our ultimate Philippines street food tour to Zamboanga City, one of the most unique and fascinating cities in the Philippines with its mix of Spanish cultures. The food is outstanding as you would expect, with a mix of local Sulu island flavors and dishes like huge crabs in Alavar sauce – which you don’t want to miss.

General Santos City – Next up we head to General Santos City, the tuna capital of the Philippines and home to Manny Pacquiao! We visited the tuna auction, which is incredible to see, tried some local balbacua, ate at Manny Pacquiao’s favorite local spot, and then had one of the greatest tuna and marlin bbq meals ever.

Davao City – It would not be a complete Philippines street food tour in Mindanao without going to Davao City, the capital and biggest city in Mindanao. Their soups are incredible and we tried a huge variety of some of the tastiest and most legendary Filipino food. Also a highlight is Davao durian, and if you love durian, welcome to durian paradise!

A huge thank you to all my local friends in the Philippines for your amazing support and taking me around!

  1. Visit Mindanao, where fresh seafoods, meat and vegetables are common in the market. You always find anywhere in the islands delicious foods that satisfy your cravings. Experience meeting people who are better in hospitality and kindness. See for yourself.

  2. Piaparan a manok, Badak, Bakas, Pater!!! It’s not a maranao restau, without that glass shelf 😅🤌🏻🥰 I’m so happy to see more of Maranao food — the actual Filipino food I grew up to, being featured in vlogs for more people to know. Mindanaoan food is just so different. 🥹 Thanks for visiting Marawi for the world to see! 🥰

  3. Mark, I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure you posted this video last week and this is simply the longer version. For future reference can you only post the edited longer version to avoid confusion

  6. Mark, do you see a future where the entire world is Muslim and lives under Sharia law? That is the goal of Islam! Are you in favor of this?

  7. Thank you for your effort in making this footage.
it's so many words and so many foods in the Philippines that are similar to and the same as those in Indonesia.
Indonesia and the Philippines share ethnic and racial similarities because their ancestors were Austronesian people.
The historical relationship between the two countries has been going on for 9 centuries.

  8. Mark , try to explore the different types of pinoy menus like adobo, ginataan ceviche etc. ..there is so many variety depending on location and ethnic /culinary backgrounds
