I’ve rented plenty of places, payed the owners twice if not three times what the place was worth. And I understood that I wasn’t getting a return on that investment, that’s why I don’t rent anymore.

   And OP’s partner agreed to paying, which in my opinion, she would’ve been doing anyway. My father and stepmother recently bought a home, they both pay the mortgage. Because both of their names are on it. Even if both of their names weren’t on it they would both pay to split the financial load. They also could pay it individually if anything were to happen to the other.

   And something tells me OP could probably afford the mortgage on her own, otherwise she wouldn’t have got that house specifically. But, in a 50/50 partnership, she shouldn’t have to. Her SO is working, she can contribute. She’d be paying to live anywhere else anyway.

8. 32:37 I was in a similar situation. My ex and I were were looking at apartments when I found out he was hiding debt. It was in the amounts that the bank laughed straight to our face at our appointment. I managed to get a mortgage without him (with another bank). I was young and dumb so I was going to put it in both our names. Luckily the bank advised me to think financially, not let my mind be fogged by love and put it in my name only. I paid the mortgage. I paid the bills that was in my name like electricity, because I didn't trust him to pay the bills on time. He paid most the groceries, etc. 7 years later we broke up. He moved out and was pretty much in the same place financially as when we met.
   If I had put it in both our names I could have ended up having to sell and give him half the money.

    Yes anything that is trendy ends up being embarrassing down the track.
    But it’s fun in the moment, so if you enjoy the moment live it… because one day you get to do what you’ve done in the video and have a chuckle and be reminded on the fun you had.
    But it also frees you as you get older to just ignore trends and enjoy being who you are right now too…

15. 51:35 Twin here! In high school, my dad gave us some great advice: When we’re in a friend group together, we need to remember there’s two of us and one of everybody else. Not to say we’re the same person, but we often bounce off each other’s energy and can leave others out of the conversation if we don’t make an effort to keep everyone included. 17. the rent story makes 0 fucking sense. First of all if it’s both of theirs then she isn’t paying rent she’s splitting the mortgage.
