This video is part of a series about climate change supported by Breakthrough Energy – a coalition founded by Bill Gates, that is working to expand clean-energy investment and support the innovations that will lead the world to net-zero carbon emissions.

Climate Change is just too much. There is never any good news. Only graphs that get more and more red and angry. Almost every year breaks some horrible record, from the harshest heat waves to the most rapid Glacier melt. It’s endless and relentless.

We have known for decades that rapid Climate Change is being caused by the release of Greenhouse Gases. But instead of reducing them, in 2019 the world was emitting 50% more CO2 than in the year 2000. And emissions are still rising. Why is that? Why is it so hard to just stop emitting these gases?

  1. But you all won't mention about meat and dairy emissions! Go watch cowspiracy documentary to know more. 51% emmision is due to agriculture where meat and dairy stays in top.

FIY let me tell you methane is 100 times more potent than CO2. Which is produced by meat and dairy industries.

  2. If I wasn’t calming myself , I would’ve been saying this : ** * ******** *** **** *****
But times a couple measly 100 trillion times per a millisecond

  3. What if every house had a windmill, or alternative energy source as a standard? what would it take to achieve this, and how big of an impact would it really have? How long would it take, and how much energy would it take to make it happen? Would it even be worth it?

  4. i lost most of my hope. the world is led by money. world leaders do not care, everyone wants wealthier, easier and more modern lifes. calling climate protests a "trend", joking about it. i want to believe that we can do something, however, i dont think its going to happen. i want to live

  5. People can choose to fly less, to take the train, to eat less meat. But all people think the same "I'm just one person". That's why this won't get solved. Because people are, at their core, fundamentally selfish and work only for self-perservation. Even if 10% don't, we still have 90% pushing their responsibility over to other people.

I honestly, truly, think that it would be better if humanity is wiped out and life starts from scratch. We've had our chance. We've proven that we're not responsible enough to survive. Having a M.D in biotechnology I understand that it's in our nature to be selfish, it's how we survived up to this point. Now it's what going to kill us. Most people won't sacrifice their vacation to save a life of a stranger or future generations, even though they know what they're doing is wrong.

    That's what's wrong with us.

  6. " We can cut subsidies…"

You're assuming we live in democracies. Most Americans want to cut fossil fuel subsidies because most Americans agree that climate change is a real human-caused threat. We don't control our government though, so shrug

  7. LOL you narrate exact opposite arguments in your April 5th 2022 video.. Fossil fuel funding changes your opinions and conclusions in just 1.5 years ?

  8. That's all very familiar, but one thing clarifies this pciture a lot: I have figures for 2018 and 2019 for CO2 emissions (from fossil fuels), and they actually show a very slight decline. Obviously, 2020 was not a normal year, but the 2021 figures should clarify a lot of this.

  9. What about mining operations to get the raw materials for batteries that is literally destroying ecosystems. Lithium extraction causes surface water contamination. 5% of batteries are currently recycled and this can increase to a maximum of 80%. So waste is unavoidable.

  10. Extremely informative video! I strongly believe that raising awareness about the climate change issue may have a huge influence on all our actions and as a result decrease our negative impact on the planet. 💪

  11. How about planting more trees, protecting rainforests and creating sustainable food forests? This solves many problems, provides healthy climate and food and can be done in most countries, by most people 🙂

  12. Hey do you guys have Nostradamas on your team?

He is really good predicting the future, well not that good.

    But better than you guys!!!

  13. The first people to die from Global Warming.

Putin is killing Ukrains for Europe and the US.

Biden cuts oil production. Europe and US finance the war for Putin.

    Everyone wins.

Oil prices are up, carbon is down, only a few Ukrains die.

Only the first Global Warming caused war, not the last.

  14. Ridiculous green propaganda. There is no problem with the climate. In fact the current climate is beneficial.
Extra CO2 is good for plants and extra warmth is good for animals.
The world is getting healthier and wealthier all the time.

  15. Global warming has nothing to do with auto exhaust or emissions. There has been a substantial rise in volcanic activity over the last hundred years especially in the oceans. This has increased the temperature of the land, the sea, and the air. The earth's climate is most likely changing back to what it was 2,000 years ago when it was much warmer. When the Romans were in Britain (40BC-380AD) they cultivated citrus fruit in the north.

  16. Oh well how about Russia and China let's get oil from them because they produce more CO2 with their process then hours so something here is a quite wrong don't you think

  17. Have John Kerry and the rest of them quit flying their airplanes which produces more CO2 than me driving my car in 100 years how about that climate crap

  18. How come the romans grew grapes on hadrians wall 2000 years ago and we struggle to grow them today. We might be damaging the earth but mother earth regulates herself to us. its the sun that causes any dramatic change on the climate and not us. But you can't make the sun go green and tax it like they are us

  19. I didn't understand one thing, first he said at 4:20 that we that we could control electricity through AI. But then after that he said that we can electrify most of the sectors. If we were to control electricity consumption as well as electrifying other sectors, how could we manage to distribute electricity correctly?
