4. I used to have a pet rat and I miss him dearly! He was so sweet and so smart. If people only knew how wonderful those little critters really can be!!!!! I would lay down and my little rat would come up and give me kisses on the cheek and make cute little squeaking noises. If heaven does indeed exist then I know for sure my sweet little rat is up there! You won't find a sweeter critter than what he was.

10. This is why when people tell me i'm crazy for having animals that live a long time, I will now just show them this. It's so true. You fall in love with them, but they're not ever around nearly long enough 🙁

11. My Rattus baby, Fafnir, dies when he was three. It was fast and heart-breaking and I have never been able to replace him.

14. My cats pass after 16 to 18 years and it breaks my heart every time. I cry and cry and cry. It would be too much to do this every two to three years…

17. What a lovely couple! Brought a tear or two to my eye. Rats are awesome.

18. They're precious souls and the ache they leave is excruciating. Their capacity for love and understanding is hard to explain if you've never experienced it which makes their life spans so much the worse.

19. I had a couple of rats as a teen. They were very entertaining and great pets.

20. I believe, Happy Face is something we are able to read in (almost) every mammal, be it fox, rat or tiger. The blissful smile on Pippin's face when he enjoyed his head scritches – that's universal! 😍

21. That is the only part I hate about rats is they don't live nearly long enough. So sweet you took good care of the old boy so well.

22. Those two took such good care of him. I wish every pet was so lucky 💚. One thing I do wonder about, though: why does Geobeats add silly squeaking sounds? Rats don't squeak.

26. I have 2 dogs 18 + and I have to do a lot of things that are Tough but I would not trade a thing.! I love them and never regret it ! When they pass I will be so sad and never regret it !!!

29. I have an old lady rat with a disability. She has a pituitary tumor and I feed her puree food through a eye dropper
