Beaver

It’s rare to see beavers out of the water, so when this beaver decides to see what’s out of the water, it gets a nasty surprise when it’s attacked and killed by a wolf. In his video, a black bear bullies a feisty beaver, but if you think the beaver is going down easily, think again. When both animals take a break, it’s the beaver that goes after the bear with both animals ending up in the forest at the end of the brawl. A bear subadult was doing the rounds in a stream and a beaver decided to avail itself as an opportunistic meal. It was a strange move by the beaver since it would have probably survived if it had gone the opposite way.

The bears are waiting for the salmon run to start in the river, so they make do with salads and small animals. They have been observed to kill river otters, muskrats, gulls, and now beavers. If you are a beaver expert or know a lot about beaver behavior, please leave a comment, to see if you can explain the beaver’s behavior. There was no recognizable beaver nest in the area, so I’m not sure if it was sacrificial to draw a predator out of there or a bad decision.

Deer Fight

These two beasts decided to have a go at it in front of someone’s house. After ramming into one another and pushing each other, one of the animals decides it’s had enough and runs off, with the other one chasing it. These two look like kangaroos fighting as they stand up on their hind legs and try to hit each other with their front legs. It was the first time I witness such a bizarre fighting technique used by deer. These black tail deer battled for supremacy across the street from the person filming’s house for fifteen minutes. Soon after, they ran off, and a doe appeared from hiding with her three fawns.

The fawns were about six months old. Some people were headed home from a basketball game when they noticed something odd on the road. Suddenly, they saw this big buck and they couldn’t figure out what on earth it was doing. Finally, they just stopped to watch, because it kept darting out onto the road and then going off back on the bank. So, they just kind of slowed down and it didn’t take them long after they stopped to realize what it had dangling from its neck, a mountain lion.
