The movie begins with a wealthy guy named Jorg Lara, a suspected drug Cartel leader, landing at a private hangar and being accompanied to his mansion by an armed guard. Lara gets dressed in his swimming gear and enters his own pool to go swimming. When he sees his watch at the bottom of the pool, he dives down to get it. Just then, he is grabbed and choked by an assassin named Arthur Bishop until he passes away. As the guards are busy rescuing Lara, Bishops sneaks out of the mansion and jumps from the bridge to make an easy escape.
While standing in his home, Bishop talks about how his assignments of murdering people require a certain mindset because these should look like accidents. Bishop encounters Harry McKenna at home, whom Bishop views as a buddy and a role model. After discussing Bishop’s work in Colombia, the two talk about Harry’s son Steven McKenna. He recently got fired from a private security firm for beating a guy to near death.
Later, while Bishop is sitting in his home after spending a night with Sarah, he learns that his next target is his best friend, Harry. Thinking of it as a mistake, he calls for proofreading, but they tell him that the information is accurate.
To solve the matter, Bishop demands a meeting with the client, Dean Sanderson. Explaining the work, he tells Bishop that he was commissioned to undertake the largest contract of murdering a high-profile man in South Africa. They gathered a team of five operatives to work in concert on the mission, who were later killed because of an information leak. Only two people knew the details, one of which was Harry. According to Dean, Harry’s divorce, his trouble-making kid and his debts have made him vulnerable, causing damage to the company. Bishop wants to talk to Harry about this, but he is highly restricted not to contact him. He has only 48 hours to proceed with the mission. Otherwise, Dean will take the contract into his own hands.
