  1. Shout out to Joel K, for this suggestion. Great choice. I hope I did it justice… it's a little long.

I want to thank my dad, step-father, grandfathers, uncles, cousins, and nephew.

All veterans or currently active. I love and appreciate you all.

This one hits home for me and this video was incredibly difficult to do. I have been a military brat all my life. On top of that, I spent 4 years doing intensive research into PTSD/TBI/Moral Injury in Iraq/Afghanistan veterans as preparation for starting a therapy animal non-profit for Veterans. It was the most heartbreaking 4 years of my lifeโ€ฆ

PTSD is a fear response regarding loss of safety. TBI is traumatic brain injuries (i.e. close contact IED explosions) that directly change the brainโ€™s composition and fundamental processes, specifically in the emotional areas of the brain.

Moral Injury is a loss of trust based on being required to do things that directly conflict with oneโ€™s own core moral ethics and values such as justice, fairness, and loyalty. When soldiers are required to follow orders to harm others (military or civilian), failure to protect others through error or inaction, and failure to be protected by leaders.

Having to violate these basic human principles even once is enough to cause someone to spiral into shame, guilt, betrayal, regret, anxiety, anger, self loathing, self harm, increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior, and complete loss of trust in oneself, others, military, country, and their higher power; creating all encompassing damage in all areas of oneโ€™s life.

Joining the military is one of the most selfless things a person can do, in my opinion. In combat specifically, often one goes in for a higher callingโ€ฆ to โ€œfight for their countryโ€ so to speak. But itโ€™s quite something else once they are engaged in combat and are required to follow strict orders to carry out things that go directly against their sense of humanity. One does not leave military service as they entered it.

Thank you to my friends, acquaintances, and strangers alikeโ€ฆ as well as the veterans I spoke to during those four years. Thank you for doing what you did, for the reasons you did them.

  2. And the party running our country today (pushing us into a nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine) are the same people that were spitting on Vietnam vets and calling them baby killers when they returned home. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  3. My grandfather was in WWI, my father fought on Normandy in WWII, and my brother took his life 6 years ago suicide by overdose, after battling may years of addiction, HIV, Viet Nam chaos and emotional demoralization that befell him… this song hit home with me when it came out, and my tears are for every Veteran who has ever served even a day towards allowing us to be able to live our lives… Thank you FFDP for bringing awareness and Thank you WonderMomma OG, for choosing this poignant song and video to share with us on Veteran's day… and yes, this one is certainly on my life soundtrack… for it hits hard…

  4. Love and bless all of you for feeling this message. Thanks, Five Finger Death Punch. My father was a Marine Corp. Vietnam vet, he lost his left arm over there in September 1967, upon his return to the states months later, he was greeted at the bus station in NYC by protesters who took turns spitting on him in his uniform with the sleeve pinned up under where his arm was missing, he kept that uniform (as is) in a clear plastic bag in his closet till the day he died. He and I laughed and cried the day before I left for BootCamp in 1981, he said you go do it, so your kids don't have to. Of course, he joked at me because I joined the navy until I told him that I volunteered for submarines, he laughed saying, at least it has marine in there somewhere, lol.

  5. I don't want to get into details, but I have recently fallen into serious depression, associated with my ongoing PTSD. This song/video snapped me out of it. While there are so many struggles, I must also realize that I have it good – a roof, steady meals, and the immediate support of loved ones. I wish I could send out strength to all those who are struggling. Thank you for helping put things into perspective. You are amazing for that.

  6. Today I joined the IW (Irreverent Warriors) walk in Phoenix with about 100 other veterans, most combat theater veterans. IW has meetups and walks all over the country to shed light on vets mental challenges and for vet suicide awareness. Most importantly, it is a networking tool for vets to have a brother and sister to lend an ear when you need it, and for you to be the ear they need when they need it. If you are a vet of any age or service, look up Irreverent Warriors, join a walk. It costs nothing other than your time and it can change your life, or another Veteranโ€™s life.

  7. As a wounded combat veteran. I would like to say THANK YOU and all the reactors for keeping the message going out. I've lost more brothers and sisters to their own hands. Than to combat.
To all veterans everywhere. Thank you

  8. This is why I love rock and roll it may be a group that has a little bit of fun but it's always as far as I can tell the only group to ever openly fight for the people fight against the powers that be that it tried to enslave us all f**** love rock and roll

  9. WMOG fantastic job, fantastic topic for memorial day. My father served in the Navy WWII aboard ship involved in many large battles, rarely could I get him to discuss the horrific things he witnessed the death and killing of many of his fellow shipmates. He at one time was assigned to navigate the troop landing craft that carried the men to land during the beach invasions. What he witnessed I cant imagine. 2 brother in laws served multiple tours in Vietnam the horrific atrocities changed them forever. One took his life after becoming a civilian. I was lucky and missed the Vietnam draft as it was ending when I became 18. This video should be played to our elected government officials every year to remind them of what consequences are on the line with their decisions. War Death and destruction should never be an option to solve disputes among countries. Very emotional topic for the times we live in.

  10. Ok. One more comment. These guys and ladies get some of the best training and education in the world yet when they are done serving they have difficulty finding jobs. They're flipping burgers or bagging groceries when they have the training they have.

  11. The first lady's comments about this happening in other countries around the world, I don't know about that. But in the United States of America this stuff should never happen at all.

  12. PTSD is a serious situation and illness. The horrors those that fight in war, sometimes even in a war that some of those serving want no part of I can't even fathom because I've never seen that sight in person. Having to take peoples lives even though that's what they are trained to cannot be fun unless maybe their some kind of psychotic maniac.

  13. I can say I find it despicable the way those that have served this nation get treated. I'm very aware of how Vietnam veterans were treated because my three uncles that served all served in Vietnam.

  14. I've known my share of people that have served. My father, grandfather and three uncles that served. I want to thank all that have served or are currently serving our nation.

  15. Ok. Just checking this out. Not a big fan of this band but this song right here is pretty cool. And as mentioned by others their support for veterans is appreciated.

  16. MommaOG, you are the bomb. Thank you. I served in the Air Force, my younger brother in the Navy, and my stepfather in the Army in Vietnam. I want to thank everyone currently serving and all of you who have served in the past. Remember that the government's lack of support and appreciation for veterans will not stop people from stepping up, because we always have. This message is absolutely crucial to so many people now, and to those who will serve going forward and potentially struggle to re-acclimate. I encourage you to give (if you can) to one of the thousands of NPOs and other groups working actively to help veterans who are struggling.
