SUBSCRIBE: https://bit.ly/3obsVlo
Join us as we go over 5 of the worst engineering catastrophes in history. We tried to focus on some lesser known examples, so perhaps some more well known catastrophes were left out. Our hope is that this video serves to educate viewers on what exactly went wrong in these events, so that nothing like them ever happens again.

I'm surprised my final exam isn't #1 honestly
5:52 I didn't realize I could travel to Cleveland to see a mountain that big.
As someone living in Florida I'm surprised to hear 4 people were pulled out alive from the rubble. With one later dying. I thought only two were pulled. The first being a young-teen boy who survived and a woman not long after who passed away. There were people who made it out through doors, halls and holes to get into garage area still standing. And the rest left in still standing part were as well. Also, a cat left in an apartment still standing was found nearby after a few days -week. He was reunited with his teen girl owner who was in the hospital.
In the United States, you will lose your PE license if you get people killed with bad engineering.
The Bible says that the love of money is the root cause of all kinds of evil. Enough said! Thank you!
👍👍👍👍
You talk about catastrophes in terms of dollars, not in lives. That sucks.
Re Surfside: did you say June or July 24?
It was cool till chernobyl who doesn't already know about that… you learn it in school
Check out my riding videos guys ! Cool videos
please use the metric system
Correction: Natural gas is lighter than air. Propane and butane are heavier which makes a gas leak from these sources so dangerous.
You need to look into the collapse of the HardRock hotel in New Orleans
30yrs to make a metal bridge, but 2 years to build a whole castle looking college or post office around the same time, mid to late 1800s…. Doesn't add up.
Bruh like how many incidents has China gotten where something bad yet they never say anything about it…it blows my mind when they do that..yo like a nuclear power plant could go off killing thousands..yet it'll still be covered up like nothing happened..like is that scary? Or that just normal?
Get to the stories instead of randomly babbling.
And yet these were fairly complex systems. The City of New Orleans was all but destroyed after hurricane Katrina because the Army Corp of Engineers had failed to drive pilings for the flood protection wall deep enough in half a dozen places. 🤬
Natural gas is not heavier than air it is lighter. LPG, or liquid petroleum gas aka propane is heavier than air.
Those Canadians, no one wants to sit next to them on a bus, but their our neighbors.
Like neighbors on our southern border, but we build a wall to keep Gorbachev out!
OMG, Americans quickly forget! That wall may keep them out! But that wall may keep US-A in!
Good story and a whole shit load of BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA you would be great at telling bed time stories
BULLSHIT
ALL CREATED DISASTERS BY THISE YOU CALL GOVERNMENT!
WAKE UP YOU LOST FOOLS!
Thankful to describe starting abouts left left-hand user they are killing thousands of people only for pocket making heavier then before it is very hateful for humans life. Thanks…..
Ah yes, Chernobyl. The finest example of ‘we f***ed up’. I remember watching a docu-series on radioactive locations. One place was, naturally, Chernobyl. The Geiger Counter was chirping frantically the whole time. Until one room where firefighters’ gear had been piled. When the door opened, the Counter hiccuped, shrieked, and died. The host looked at his dead machine, and pulled the door shut. “We should leave now.” Wisely, the crew did. At a swift trot!
I like your channel, but the loss of 1 life is to many! We as Americans know better yet again and again money and profit’s always seem to win out even when human life is at stake!☠️ this has to change
I think an important component to all of these structural failures, or at least many of them is simple corruption. The building codes exist but sadly public officials being what they are corruption happens. And workers die.
plagiarised garbage
Double the 1000 year flood the dam was designed to handle?
How is this an engineering problem?
Sounds more like a writing problem on the part of this channel.
City officials were the root of the factory mishap. Charge THEM with murder too.
very informative . .

What is called and Engineering Catastrophe is usually if not always a MANAGEMENT DISASTER !
Tofu dreg!
No, engineers understand that they work in a perilous environment. Every Canadian engineer receives a ring when he passes his exams. The ring is made of steel from the collapsed Quebec bridge.
oy
The cheap comes out expensive… Usually paid with in human lives
Bhopal, India nearly 4000 killed and half million injured, Union Carbide.
How about Pintos blowing up?
Also known as Lido’s traveling BBQs.
So number two wasn’t really a fail.
The storm was twice as severe as what the dam was designed to withstand.
I was surprised the Bhopal disaster, the 1984 gas leak at the Union Carbide pesticide plant that killed 0ver 16,000 people wasn't on the list.
Engineers are experts. I do not trust in experts. They make mistakes, and they're always big.
Check this engineering mistake that I ran into when riding my Ducati in Bangkok. A car tries to go under a motorway where there is no road, but according to the GPS there is https://youtu.be/2KvCh890XRA
As long as the people that are in charge of a country are financially satisfied they dont care about the regular joe thats why t i always say the only good politician is a dead one
Says "incredible" so often that I was incredibly bored with his incredible and narrow vocabulary and lack of credibility.
This guy ranks a partial building collapse at #1 over Chernobyl? What a fucking joke.

A lot of building in India that collapse or burn down killing many workers, own by Americans. How do I know, my sister worked for those companies. The last company she worked for was shut down and almost everyone way laid off because they were using child labors to make garments.
Ppl who died R.I.P 🙁
0:48 … bad form Jack
