My niece's husband and crew were sent to Atlanta to help get power back on. It is possible they will be drafted to help in other areas, even across state lines. I've never seen such widespread destruction.

If you want to help please reach out to some of the local churches in the area. Same with the local schools to donate directly through them.
Money won’t trickle down through management pockets like it does through Red Cross, which is an ok option.
Local churches are already feeding hot meals, helping with essential needs everyday, all day.

Bring in lifestraws & water filteration & tablets, etc type of products.
It’ll be a while before everything is everyday-functional for clean drinking water in some of the very rural area & burning fuel/wood, etc to heat water sources to boil long enough to make it drink safe is not reasonable, but drinkable water is ESSENTIAL.
Even bringing clean water in single use bottles, or 5 gal jugs into the rural areas as debris is being cleared & infrastructure comes back is long term issues.
The mountain streams are great water sources, but need to be processed for drinking. Lifestraws & tablets can be very helpful & free up weight for pack mules & delivery drops that can be used for food, etc until roads & gas stations are available.
