Born in Germany, Dieter dreamed of flying in the sky since he was a child. When he grew up, he immigrated to the United States with his family and joined the army to become a real pilot. Dieter then joined the Navy to fight in Vietnam. On his way to carry out his mission, Dieter’s plane was unfortunately shot down by the Vietnamese army’s ground fire. He escaped death, but was eventually captured and tortured by the enemy. Dieter was taken to a prisoner of war camp in Laos, where he was accompanied by several fellow American troops. The enemy guards treated them inhumanely, and Dieter was determined to escape before he could sit down, but his companions around him, Gene and Duane, did not think so, and they did not have much confidence. After some persuasion, Dieter carefully planned to escape from prison when the rainy season comes. They have to face the endless jungle, hunger, wild animals, and the Vietnamese who do not know where
