  1. My uncle was a paramedic and a fireman for several years. He was kind enough to never talk about anything. Well after he retired he had trouble sleeping from the nightmares. Very proud of him and all the others.

  2. If he was already agonal when you got to the scene then I can’t say I’m super surprised he didn’t make it, CPR may have saved him in slightly different circumstances but once agonal breathing then the odds really aren’t great. I feel bad for the paramedics responding so quickly and efficiently to the situation because sometimes even when you’ve done your absolute best it doesn’t work and I’m sure that’s absolutely devastating.

  3. Back in 1962 my uncle was in a car accident on the Northern State Parkway on Long Island. His car was hit head on. The steering wheel was pushed into his chest. When the cops arrived before the ambulance they thought he was almost dead. A neighbor on his street was several cars behind him and as traffic was now stopped he recognized my uncle’s car and ran over to the crash. He told the cops this is my neighbor get that ambulance to hurry. My uncle survived and went on to live another 40 years. Thank God for all you EMT people the service you provide for us is invaluable. My cousin his son became a paramedic in LA but only lasted a few years he just couldn’t take all the traffic accidents. My cousin left and joined the FDLA and spent the next 30 years doing that. He retired several years ago as a Batallion Chief.

  4. Being a paramedic or in the medical field is not for everyone just like any other career. Ive had to pack more bodies than I ever thought I would ever see but sooner or later we become numb to it its just the cycle of life thats really it. We are born, live and die.

  5. These are the people that we need in the industry. people with hearts and not there for the money. lets not forget that any patient could be somebody's dad or mom or son. Pray for you always. and whoever is reading this. i hope life is treating you good. stay positive

  6. Spidey senses ? If I got a call that someone was struck on the interstate by another car I’m pretty sure that it’s just evident that’s it’s not going to be a good scene.

  7. This reminds me of when my family and I were on our way to a laser hair clinic when we watched the motorcyclist in front of us flip over his vehicle, crashed, and fell in the ditch. I was trying to sleep, and i opened my eyes and saw it happen. I never ran out of a car so fast, I never saw my mom pull over so quickly. My mom, sister's boyfriend, and I rushed to his side. He was moving but had no idea what happened. He was speaking incoherently. My mom called 911 while my sister's boyfriend and I tried to stop the motorcyclist from moving too much. He didn't have a helmet on. From how he was rolled over, I was surprised he hasn't knocked out or had any physical head injuries. Cue the ambulance coming by and transporting him to the hospital, he fractured a few of his ribs and broke a place in his neck. The injuries weren't the worst, but they could've been worse, too. I remember heading back in the car and bawling my eyes out.

That was 2 months ago, I still get tense when we drive behind motorcyclists. Like I can't keep my eyes off them. It's definitely not as bad as this wreck here, but I can emphasize the pain of trying your hardest to save a life. These paramedics are everything. They deserve so much praise.

  8. I remember getting a call saying that when my boyfriend was driving a semi truck was serving and hit him head on I immediately froze were I was and got in my car and drove down were the car happened and saw him in a ditch after the car was sawed to get him out with how crushed the car was I ran over and he was breathing just unconscious then his parents cam and we all just stood there freaking out as we watched him get put in an air ambulance after being told he wouldn’t make it if he took ambulance but luckily now he has fully recovered and he drives really careful and doesn’t drive at night cause that’s when it happened ❤it just broke my heart to see him like that ❤️‍🩹

  9. All you emergency related workers thanks for your dedication to saving lives. I don’t know how you can stomach what you all see weekly or daily. The often un noticed hero’s

  10. I believe healthcare workers need to be paid just as much as professional athletes!! If not more!!

We go to school and get into a bunch of debt because we want to HELP sick people. We are just as worthy of a good paycheck as athletes.

  11. I was a firefighter/EMT for 48 years, retiring in 2017. Can’t tell how many accidents, trauma victims, and calls I’ve been on, but I had a chant I would say to myself to not get emotionally involved. I won’t say what that is, but the first couple months after retirement it was a struggle to keep those memories locked away. It’s amazing what people get in to or have happen to them, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to be of help and service. I don’t miss it at all.

  12. If a hospital can charge me $20,000 to transport me by ambulance less than 1/2 mile, why do they pay these "Angels of Medicine" ( the EMT's ) only approximately $22.00 per hour. GOD BLESS the EMT's of the world !!!

  13. Thank you GOD for all the first responders in the world, respect to all, thank you for all you do, amazing job, a great heart, always doing more to save lives, GOD bless🙏
