That was pretty stupid to have the success of this very expensive and important test hinge on a 200 dollar hobby remote control radio. They could have at least built a custom antenna or an amplifier to increase the range.

You don't need to crash a perfectly good plane to see what happens to a plane when it crashes. There are plenty of real plane crashes for them to study and see what happens…to the plane and to the people.
In this day and age when so many planes crash for real, why crash a perfectly good plane?!?! What a stupid, unnecessary, wasteful thing to do. Bunch of people with too much time on their hands. Each crash is different, so this thing they did is useless.
They needed to do that do see a plane break in 3 pieces. Stupid. Happened so many times in real crashes. This was totally unnecessary, stupid and wasteful.
